Temptation

❖ V ❖

The two human Merlox and I had collected were impressive; the young girl murdering two thugs effortlessly and the boy killing without a second thought. Both would indeed prove useful in the battle that was to come, the inevitable battle between the angels and demons.

As Merlox and I carried both mortals to Hell, I noticed two other humans loitering around its rocky entrance. The doorway into Hell was like a cave, a gaping hole in the center of a barren wasteland. Two females stood near the entrance, and I squinted my purple eyes to see them better.

"Who are they?" Merlox muttered, flattening his wings and preparing to dive straight for the girls.

"Wait!" I shouted, but he had already swooped down towards the surface and I rolled my eyes in irritation. "Moron."

Coming to a graceful stop a few feet away from Merlox and the two mysterious humans, I stalked forward to confront them. Merlox looked as if he was about to say something, but I cut him off with an agitated finger. Ever heard the saying of ladies first before?

"Who are you? Why are you here? And are you ready to die now?" I sneered, placing a hand on my hip and the girl I had been carrying, Hime, behind me. She peeked at the females from behind me with two curious, blue eyes.

"Who are you?" Hime echoed questioningly. I could hear Merlox grumbling under his breath from behind me, but chose to ignore him.

"I-I'm Floria," a curly-haired brunette stammered nervously, her eyes flickering from my group to her black-eyed companion. "And this is--" she faltered for a moment.

"Juliet," the girl stated coldly, glaring at us with icy eyes. I marveled at her expression of contempt, how could a mere human pull of a face so full of hatred?

"Who are you?" the first girl who had spoken inquired, but I had no inclination to answer her question.

"What are you doing here?" I countered instead, staring at her intensely. If these two were allies of the angels... "Are you here with the angels?"

Juliet stepped forward and shook her head sharply, her bright green hair barely moving an inch with the movement. "We were instructed to convene here with a potential ally." She spoke in a monotonously boring voice.

"What ally?" I raised a sculpted eyebrow suspiciously. What idiot of a demon would tell these girls to wait at the entrance of Hell for them, of all places? And how did they even find this place?

"We did not receive a name, nor a purpose."

"Fair enough," I shrugged, still eying the two suspiciously. "Carry o--"

I was cut off by the zipping of three angels as they flew out of the entryway. Astrum Angels. One wearing particularly conspicuous neon shorts and black tights was carrying a fallen partner, and the other ushered the mortals I had been chatting with towards her.

"You dirty little liars!" I screeched, unfurling my wings hurriedly. I had completely forgotten Hime was behind me, and she fell to the ground, whimpering in pain.

Not caring about the blonde we had picked up from the streets, I raced after the angels and their human accomplices. The two above me were slowed down greatly from their burdens, but they continued on diligently, not willing to give up. Merlox appeared suddenly from beside me, and I beat my wings faster in an attempt to catch up.

Shooting through the sky, the four of us were like multi-colored bullets as we twirled in a synchronized battle of cat and mouse. Just as I had reached the angels, I slammed into a barrier of heavenly light, and the Astrums continued on, unfazed.

"Damn it!" I yelled angrily, hovering in the air for a moment. Those bastard angels and their barriers...

Merlox cast me a side-long glance of amusement, and I scoffed before plummeting down towards the ground without a moments hesitation. When I had reached Hime and Leon, both seemed to be anxiously edging away from the gate to Hell.

"Alright, let's go," I ordered them gruffly, ushering Hime into my arms so I could carry her the rest of the way. She did as I asked and we flew into Hell with Merlox and Leon close behind us.

Soaring through the multiple caves and tunnels that attached the underground lair of the Kage and Crux Clans, I spotted Fox and Devion a short way ahead, no doubt returning to headquarters. I suddenly remembered what I had sent them off to do.

"Fox!" I barked. The sandy haired boy doubled back at the sound of my voice and came to a dutiful halt in front of me. Merlox continued ahead, not bothering to wait for either of us.

"Yes, your highness?" he teased me, smirking.

I mocked him in a whiny voice and said, "What happened to the angels?" Although I already knew the answer to that question.

"We were fighting them and all, and I paralyzed the one chick's wings, but she was saved by another one of those freakin' pests, and then they got away," Fox sighed, averting his gaze towards the ground. He had a feeling I was going to push him into a wall soon. But I couldn't really do that with Hime in my arms, now could I?

"Whatever," I snapped. When I reached our headquarters, I showed Hime to a well-furnished room with corrugated walls and a smooth, molten floor. The furnishings were mostly black, with bright spots of orange and yellow. She collapsed onto the bed with a bright smile, waving to me as I left her cheerfully.

I returned to my own room, beginning to remove my clothes in order to change into something less ragged after all the fighting. I heard a sound behind me and whipped my head around, narrowing my eyes and scrutinizing the room.

"No, no, continue as you were. Don't mind me," a cocky voice came from the king sized canopy bed in my room.

I continued rolling down one of my thigh high socks, throwing it across the room and into a drawer that was slightly ajar. Without even acknowledging the demon pervert that was relaxing on my plushly comforted bed, I slid off my skirt and removed my shirt in two flowing movements.

"Let's see... I give you a 9, for not wearing sexier undergarments," Fox drawled, picking at his nails lazily.

I rolled my eyes and began rummaging around in my black marble wardrobe when I felt something behind me. Fox, obviously. Moron just couldn't leave me alone, now would he? And I wasn't about to ruin the walls of my own room... What to do now?

"But, I'll give you a ten if..." he trailed off and stepped closer towards me, and I mirrored his movement by getting closer to the wardrobe. He continued to do this until I had nowhere else to go, and until he had me pinned to it's cold surface.

I turned around sharply and glared up at him, "What. Do. You. Want."

"You, a lot of money, you, and world dominance," he said nonchalantly, putting up a finger for each word.

"Know what I want?" I asked him, crossing my arms defiantly.

"You don't have to tell me," he murmured, lowering his face down in a gesture not unlike the one he had pulled the day before.

"Good, then you already know that I want you the hell outta this room," I pushed him away, refraining from using all my strength and pulled on the clothes I had laid out on my vanity.

"And now, you leave." With that, I kicked Fox out of the room and sighed, falling onto my bed leisurely. I sunk into the soft fabrics that covered the bed, and mused over the days events.

Those angels... Would have to be eliminated.

And Fox... I didn't even want to think about him.
