The Sohma Head

I tried my best to not make a fool of myself. I already failed, for accidently calling Nastumi by the wrong name.

I was approached by a figure. I twisted around to see who it was. Who else, but the head of the family.

“Hello,” the family head greeted me with a warm smile. I could have almost been fooled then and there. The feeling around the family head was anything but sweet, but I shouldn’t be too forward and make a fool of myself.

I smiled back. “Hello, Sohma Head,” I said back with false warmth. I’m sure the family head could see right through it, as sure as I could see right through there’s.

“It’s so nice for you to be here, my dear Rat,” they said. Lie. “I hope you enjoy yourself here.” Another lie. Something was up and really wrong.

At first I refrained from asking but it slipped. “What was that animal that ran from here?” I asked.

The room continued around us but the family head fell silent. “Oh, it was an overgrown house Cat,” the family head joked. It was cold and vindictive to none other than the cat.

I drew away, bowing. “I’m sorry, Head, but I must withdraw for now,” I said, keeping my face low to hide my frown.

I turned and ran into someone. I took a step back and cried, “I’m sorry!!"
