The First Gates
Chapter 13

"What is wrong with us? Why the hell did we eat so fast?" Dimi moaned. He was laying on the floor, his blue hair spread out. Ryo, Leo, Kalon and Caza sat around him, their empty bento boxes piled in the corner.
"It was your frickin' idea to begin with," Kalon said miserably.
"Was not!"
"Was too..."
"Shut up..." Caza said quietly to both to them.
"That's what you get for eating so fast," Roxanne teased Dimi, poking his stomach.
"Don't!" Dimi whined, holding his stomach and curling into the fetal position. "I'm too full to poke!"
"Really?" Kalon's eyes became mischief when he saw Roxanne poke Dimi. Kalon jumped on Dimi, and they wrestled on the floor, with Kalon harshly poking Dimi in the stomach every chance he got. Dimi flailed helplessly, reaching for Leo and Ryo to help him.
Kaira smiled, and noticed Taj's dinner was still there, and Taj was still outside from when Caza had told him to get out. No one, not even Dimi seemed to miss him. Kaira took the last bento box and slipped out of the room unnoticed. She passed the front desk and went outside.
She didn't see Taj and worried that maybe he had wandered furthur into the city. Then she spotted Taj away in the field Ken and Kyo had sparred earlier. His back was towards the city and he was looking out over the land. Kaira slowly walked across the field to him.
"Hi Taj..." Kaira said softly as she approached. Taj spun around.
"Oh...hi Kaira..." Taj said in a low voice. "Did they forgive me yet?"
Kaira gave a nervous laugh, trying to figure out a way to answer his question without being hurtful. "Well, they're not cursing you out anymore!" Kaira said, trying to be optimistic. Taj's face fell.
"It was an accident!" Taj said louder .
"I know..."Kaira said. She held the last bento box out to Taj. "Here's your dinner." Taj looked at it.
"What kind is it?" he asked. Kaira looked at the label.
"Vegetable."
"Friggin' figures..." Taj said miserably, taking the bento box. But he wasn't hungry. "I should just go crawl in a hole and wait for death to accept me."
"They'll forgive you! They're all just worried because of the Gates and stuff," Kaira said. "I'm not mad at you!"
Taj couldn't help but smile. It was just a shame that she was so oblivious. Taj's newly found good mood was soon ruined by Kyo walking out of the building, and spotting him and Kaira.
"What do you want?" Taj said, annoyed that Kyo had ruined his time with Kaira.
"I was checking on Kaira," Kyo said, glaring at Taj.
"I'm fine Kyo..." Kaira said softly, but they still glared at each other. "Let's go back inside..." Kaira said. She grabbed each of them by the arm and they walked inside together.
Once back inside Taj and Kyo both went to their respectable sides of the room. Kaira looked between them and sighed.
"I don't know why they can't get along..." Kaira said hopelessly as she sat next to Roxanne on the floor. Roxanne looked at Kaira.
"Are you serious?" Roxanne asked. "Of course they hate each other! People do that when they fight over someone they really care about."
"Someone they really care about?" Kaira asked. "But who? They only met a few days ago..."
"Kaira..." Roxanne said with a little laugh. "There's only two girls in this group. And I bet they started fighting long before they met me..." Kaira gasped.
"You mean they're fighting because of me...?" Kaira whispered to where only Roxanne would hear.
"Of course you!" Roxanne said. "You're just a naturally nice person Kaira, people like that."
"Okay...now what are we gonna do?" Leo said, looking at the map. "It's almost ten..."
"Do you think the old plan would still work if we all just went to our own Gates?" Ryo asked.
Steel, Janon, Kalon, Caza, Ryo, Leo, and Dimi all stood around the table examining the map of Camaria, trying to rethink their strategy.
"Most likely the person Taj spilled his guts to has told some authority figures," Janon said in his sly voice. "The Cathedrals the Gates are all positioned in might actually have some guards when we get there..."
"I don't think we should split up," Dimi voiced his opinion.
"But it would go faster if we did..." Kalon said, exhaling his cigarette.
"As long as you all survive until after you open your Gates, we'll be fine..." Steel said.
"Oh, so after we close our Gates, it wont matter if we die, huh?" Kalon said sarcastically.
"Shut up Kalon, you know he didn't mean that..." Leo said, but he sounded like he didn't meant it.
"We'll still split up..." Steel said. "But not into seven groups..."
"Then how many?" Caza asked in his deep voice.
"Three groups..." Steel said. "One group will stay here, with Dimi and Demon's son and daughter, they'll most likely attract too much unwanted attention if the Users here start searching for them."
"I'll stay with them," Kyo said, interfering. "Me and Ken are responsible enough for them."
"Do as you please..." Steel said coldly. "The second group will travel north, up along these Gates..." Steel motioned on the map the Gates of Ice, Wind, Water, and Earth. "Caza, Dimi, and Kalon will be in this group, with Davis and Jim..."
"Do we need to bring them?" Caza asked, referring to Davis and Jim.
"Would you prefer that all of your children are alone and separate from us?" Steel snapped before going on. "The other group will move along the Western side of the city, along the Gates of Ice, Lightning and Fire. Once all six Gates are open, we'll regroup at the Cathedral in the center of the city, where the Seventh Gate is."
"But shouldn't we meet up once more before we get to the final Gate?" Caza asked.
"Fine." Steel said, sounding aggravated. "After the Group 2 closes the Ice Gate, and Group 3 closes the Wind Gate, we'll meet up here," Steel pointed on the map a location that was near the middle of the city, between the areas the two groups would be covering. "We'll confirm who's dead and who's alive here before moving on."
"Then it's settled," Janon proclaimed, laughing to himself. "I feel truly blessed, my Gate is one of the first one's to be closed. I can leave as soon as my work here is done." Ryo glared at Janon from across the table. Every time Janon's snake-like mouth opened Ryo wished to break it.
"Then we're leaving now, when people are starting to go inside for the night," Steel said before walking away from the map and the table. "You'd best memorize the map before you leave, because the map's coming with my group." Dimi, Kalon, Caza, Jim and Davis quickly went to the map and tried memorizing the locations of each Gate.
"Why can't they just take the map? We have you to guide us," Roxanne asked as she began cleaning up after the party's mess.
"It's my map," Steel said simply, grabbing his own bag. "Just take what you need and leave the rest of your things.
"Do I have to stay here?" Kaira asked Ryo. Ryo the Dragon was laying on her lap, making soft purring noises while attempting to eat a green bean Taj had given him.
"Well, Taj made it so you can't really come with us..." Ryo said. "But Kyo and Ken'll be here with you..."
Kaira blushed slightly at the though of being together with Kyo and Taj for a long time. "How long will you guys all be gone?" Kaira asked.
"I have no clue..." Ryo said looking around at everyone else getting their stuff together to leave. "The four of you can stay here until Midnight, but then you'll have to leave..."
"And where'll we go?"
"Just walk out of town a little ways, out into the field and lay low until we come to find you." Ryo said. "When we all leave we're gonna meet up in the fields out a little ways from the city."
"Okay..." Kaira said softly, looking down.
"It shouldn't be too long!" Ryo said quickly. "Maybe a few hours at the most!"
"It's okay Dad..." Kaira said. "We'll leave here and go out into the fields at Midnight and wait for you!"
Ryo gave her a weak smile. Steel called for the ones who were leaving all all leave. Ryo said a quick good bye to Kaira, but not before she gave him another hug.
Everyone left, leaving the big reception room to just Kaira, Kyo, Taj, and Ken.
"What are we gonna do now?" Kaira asked.
"I dunno...whatever we feel like, as long as none of us do anything to jeopredize this war," Ken said, putting emphasis in his words and glaring at Taj. Taj glared back still feeding his random vegetables to Ryo the Dragon. "And we'll leave here at about 11:45 and wait in the fields outside of town..."

"Do you remember where you're supposed to go?" Steel asked Group 3, Kalon, Dimi, Caza, Jim and Davis. They all nodded silently. "And do you remember where we're meeting after we each close the Gates of Wind and Ice?" They all nodded once again.
"I don't," Dimi said.
"Well we do!" Kalon said, but his voice wasn't as harsh as it normally was. Ryo felt that it was because they were all splitting up.
"Let's go..." Janon said. He was sounding annoyed and bored. Steel's group of Janon, Ryo, Leo, and Roxanne left, going down a dark alleyway, while Kalon's group of Dimi, Caza, Jim and Davis went northward towards the Wind Gates, and past that, the Gates of Water and Earth.
"We just have to head....North into the city, until we find a Cathedral..." Davis said, remembering the map. "And inside the Cathedral is the Gate, Caza will close it, and then we can meet back up with them at the plaza to the west!"
"It might not be that easy..." Caza said quietly as they passed another small group of people who gave them suspicious looks.
"Is it me, or do we stand out horribly?" Dimi said. On Dimi's back were the two short swords he had recieved from Professor Bob. He wore a white button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and regular pants. He didn't bother putting his longer blue hair and let it hang by his shoulders.
"You stand out to begin with Dimi. You should dye your hair." Jim said in a polite tone. "But then again....I guess we might stand out, considering we're all carrying weapons..." Jim was wearing a loose fitting shirt with dark forest green pants with black boots. Davis was wearing a white tank top with a leather jacket over it with black pants and brown boots. Kalon wore a black shirt with the sleeves cut off at the shoulder and his normal leather gloves. His pants were black along with his boots and two leather utility belts.
"Does anyone even know how we're supposed to close the Gates?" Davis asked. "I mean, is it an actual door, or is it something else?"
"I'm pretty damn certain it ain't no actual door..." Kalon said. "Any idiot can close a door, Steel said only descendents of Angels can close these Gates..."
"Steel said we should be able to figure them out, so they can't be too hard, can they?" Dimi said, smiling.
"Maybe not for you..." Kalon muttered under his breath.
"What?" Dimi asked as he leaned closer to Kalon.
"I said shut up!" Kalon yelled. "What else do I ever say to you?!"

"I hope they're all right..." Roxanne said, looking back, as though expecting to see the other group just behind her, safe and sound.
"They should be fine..." Leo said dully. "As long as no one starts suspecting us..."
Leo had fallen slightly behind with Roxanne, leaving Ryo next to Janon. Ryo felt his fists clenching again, and decided he needed to get away. But Janon was feeling a stroke of confidence.
"I see Kaira's grown up..." Janon commented in his suave voice that made Ryo want to hit something. Janon glanced at Ryo for any signs of hostile movement, but saw that he was safe for the moment.
"But the poor dear is so innocent, it's rather disgusting..." Janon went on. "She really is sad..."
"Shut up..." Ryo hissed through his teeth. Janon took a small step away.
"I'm just trying to make small talk, Demon..." Janon said, his voice was a bad attempt at sounding sincere. "Just trying to work through our...misunderstanding..."
"I told you to shut up...I don't wanna hear you talk..." Ryo said, his voice was slightly louder and threatening. Steel heard, and looked over his metallic shoulder at them. His eyes shone with something that encouraged Ryo to hit Janon.
"Demon, we should become friends..." Janon said, dragging his words and voice along. "We can do so much better than Kaira, she's--"
Janon's words were interrupted by a swift kick to the face. Janon's head collided into a nearby wall from the impact, leaving cracks where his head had hit. Janon's body collapsed to the ground. He barely had time to rub his jaw before Ryo dragged him up by his neck.
"Don't you ever dare insult her!" Ryo's evil voice echoed in Janon's ears. It seemed almost far off, but somewhere, Janon could hear Roxanne begging Ryo to stop.
"Insult?" Janon said through the blood seeping into his mouth. "Since when did a Demon care for a girl he barely knows?" As the words left Janon's lips, Ryo's eyes turned into a deeper, brighter shade of green. Janon saw the unnatural color erupt in Ryo's eyes, and fear gripped him. Ryo's vice-like grip on Janon's neck tightened to a lethal pressure, and Janon began clawing at Ryo's hand. Janon's clawing held no affect on Ryo's grip. He suddenly remembered he had his Ice bow on his back along with arrows. Janon attempted to reach behind him to draw them, but the same idea had occurred to Ryo first.
Ryo's eyes remained locked onto Janon's cold, dying, ice blue eyes as he gripped Janon's wrist with his free hand, and bent it backwards at an unnatural angle. Janon attempted to let out a scream, but Ryo's stranglehold on his throat was too tight. Janon resourced to trying to kick Ryo away, his life energy was already being sucked away.
"Let the pathetic bastard go, Demon..." Steel's words broke Ryo's stance and brought him back to reality. Ryo realized Roxanne had been pulling on his arm that was strangling Janon. He instantly let go of Janon's neck and let him fall to the ground, gasping for breath.
"Please just leave him!" Roxanne begged, still holding onto Ryo's arm. She looked up at him with a sad face, her own light green eyes near tears. "He still needs to close the Ice Gate! He can't die yet!"
Ryo inhaled to give Roxanne a reply, an excuse, anything, but nothing came to him. He wasn't looking at Leo, but he could feel Leo giving him a disappointed look. Ryo sighed, giving Janon one last kick to his side before walking away.
Roxanne blinked. Just before Ryo had turned away from her, she could have sword Ryo's eyes were a deeper, brighter, almost deadlier shade of green. When she went up to him to check, she saw his eyes were back to the same shade of green they normally were.
Steel gave Ryo a dark smile as he walked past. Leo and Roxanne both left Janon, not wanting to touch him. Janon slowly rose to his hands and knees, massaging his neck where Ryo had gripped it.
"You're brave..." Steel mocked Janon once the other three were out of earshot. "To try and provoke a Demon..."
"He's...not a real...Demon," Janon gasped, slowly climbing up the wall to his feet. Steel laughed softly at Janon's weakness. It was amusing that Janon was a spawn of an Angel, considering how physically weak he was. Steel concluded Janon was the weakest of the Seven. Roxanne could protect herself better than he could. If Janon hadn't been the only descender of the Angel of Ice Steel never would have bothered with him.
"He's a Demon all right. You all are..." Steel said in a good mood, waiting for Janon to start following him again. "All of you are Angels by Blood, but technically, you're all also Demons, for going against the Gods..."
"I know that! Don't speak to me as though I know nothing!" Janon said, getting his self-loving temper back as he slowly began following Steel to where Leo, Ryo, and Roxanne had stopped to wait for them.
"Don't cross Demon again." Steel said, this time his voice was more serious. "He's unpredictable, he's much more different that the others..."
"How? He's not a Demon," Janon said, still rubbing the curve of his neck. "He's just like any other User! Just because he can use multiple Elements doesn't mean he's better than me!"
"Oh, but he is..." Steel mocked. "He wasn't named Demon for no reason. His mother revealed at his birth what he would do in his lifetime. He's destined to lose himself..."

"Where the hell are we?!" Kalon yelled out loud, making Jim and Davis both try to shush him.
"I thought you said you knew the way?" Dimi asked innocently.
"I remembered the general locations asshole!" Kalon growled back at Dimi. "I don't see you finding our way to the Wind gate!"
"But you said you knew!" Dimi said, getting his whining voice. "I thought you'd take care of things! You know me! I can't remember shit unless it revolves around women!"
"Let's just keep going North," Davis said. He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a compass. "The Gate was North of where we started out, we should be almost there..."
Jim took the compass, and turned it to where it pointed North. "It's this way..." Jim said, pointing to the right path. Kalon stalked down the empty street, grumbling to himself about Dimi and his stupidity. Dimi ran after Kalon, not taking notice to Kalon's bad mood. Jim went to follow, but turned back to see that Caza was still standing where he was. His face was between serious and expressionless.
"Aren't you coming?" Jim asked his father. "We can't be too far off from it now, then our job will be done..."
Caza made a sound with his throat before following. "Why couldn't just me and you go to the Wind Gate alone?" Caza said quietly to Jim.

Ryo the Dragon was rolling around lazily on the floor, making his growling sounds. His short, squat body had no limbs, and he could move similar to a snake, but he still hadn't realized he had that ability. He wiggled his tail to go forwards and rolled to make turns. All the while making small growls and purring noises. Kaira watched him play on the floor, giggling occasionally at her Dragon's conquests.
The entire room was now empty except for herself, Taj, Kyo and Ken. Kaira was sitting on the floor near a window, watching her baby Dragon while Taj leaned against the window railing, staring out of the window. Kyo was sitting on the opposite wall from Kaira, also watching the small Dragon. He couldn't find it cute in the same way Kaira did, but he saw her affection for it clearly. Ken was leaning against a wall near the door, his head was bent forward and his hair hid his face. Kaira suspected he had fallen asleep.
Kaira looked up at the clock in the room. It read 10:30. They still had over an hour before they had to leave into the fields outside of Camaria. Taj noticed her looking up at the clock, and suddenly got an idea.
"You should sleep Kaira..." Taj said, trying to talk so Kyo wouldn't hear him. "You can sleep a little before he have to leave."
Kaira gave Taj a sweet smile. "No, I'm fine for now, I don't feel sleepy."
Ryo the Dragon tried hopping. He made a successful hop, and purred with pleasure at his new found means of traveling. He slowly and clumsily hopped towards Kaira, slipping and falling on his side several times. Kaira smiled, and reached out for the dragon. She pulled him closer and let the dragon take his usual place on her lap.
"You should at least try lying down..." Taj said. "I don't want you getting tired when we leave here..."
"If she doesn't want to sleep then leave her be," Kyo said from across the room. Taj shot him a glare.
"I wasn't even talking to you!" Taj said angrily. Kaira looked between Kyo and Taj. She wanted to say something, but couldn't think of anything. Ken didn't move from his place
"You didn't need to," Kyo said simply.
"Ken's asleep!" Taj argued.
"Not anymore I'm not," Ken said without raising his head. Kyo gave Taj a look that made him feel the real emotion of defeat.
"Shut up...." Taj muttered. "I'm older than you anyways. You should have more respect for me!"
"Age is only a number and the fact that you would use that excuse proves that you're still a child..." Kyo said.
"Please stop," said Kaira, hoping it would be enough. Taj gave Kyo one last bad look before turning to look out of the window again.
"It's a full moon..." Taj said.
Kaira got up from her spot on the floor to look out of the window. Ryo the Dragon growled at being moved, but Kaira shushed him. She stared up and saw the full moon. She wondered if it was her imagination, but she could have sworn the moon had a red tint to it. She wondered to herself how far her father had gotten.
Kyo didn't rise from his place. He knew Taj had only mentioned the full moon to get Kaira to come closer to him at the window.

Roxanne walked as close to Ryo as she could without making him move away from her in discomfort. Leo had explained a little bit to her as to why Ryo and Janon hated each other so much. She didn't know Eliazar, but for Ryo to look up to him the way he did, she figured he had to be a good person.
Ryo noticed Roxanne kept giving him looks of concern, but he pretended not to notice. Out of everyone that had come along to Camaria, she was the only other one with green eyes. Her eyes were a lighter shade than his, but he felt some relief in not being the only one. Steel had never referred to her as 'Demon', simply as 'Witch'. Ryo felt some pity for her and for what had happened to her just because they shared eye color. He also felt pity for her because of her feeling and her devotion for something he knew he could never fully give her.
Steel glanced around a corner slowly, checking for any sign of Camarian Patrol. Several times they had to change their course because of them randomly wandering around the city. Janon had offered to 'finish them off', but Steel forbad it, knowing it would only atract attention.
"This is terribly boring," Janon said none too quietly; as he examined the wrist Ryo had bent. "I thought this was supposed to be exciting, all we're doing is sneaking...we have hardly any use for weapons!"
"Janon, shut up. No one wants to hear you talk." Leo said in an unusual cold voice. Ryo couldn't help but smile at Leo. It felt good to have someone else hate Janon, even if Leo wasn't the type to hate easily.
Steel smirked at his sons. He couldn't say he cared for him, but they did provide him with entertainment he had been without for over twenty years.
"Ryo..." Roxanne said softly. Ryo looked at her sideways.
"What?"
"Well...um..." Roxanne stumbled over her words. She didn't know how to say them. "Well, when this is over...what are you gonna do?" Ryo raised his eyebrows.
"What?"
"You know..." Roxanne went on. "After Camaria's crippled, what will you do?"
"Oh...I dunno..." Ryo said, looking down as he walked. "Go back to Hollow I guess...with everyone else. I know I'm not going back to the Razada House..."
Roxanne didn't push for anymore. He didn't say it, but she knew what he meant.
"Do you see that?" Steel said. He pointed to the rooftops ahead of them with his metal right arm. Just over the rooftops Ryo saw a large spike that was much higher than the rest of the buildings around it. It went directly upwards to a sharp point. In the moonlight the tower seemed to shine a clear blue color.
"That's my Cathedral?" Janon asked. He didn't sound impressed.
"That's your Gate," Steel conformed. After winding through the last few streets and alleyways, they came upon a small open plaza. The entire plaza was simplicity paved in clear stones that reflected perfect light. The plaza was circular, leading up to the entrance of the Cathedral of Ice.
The Cathedral itself was enormous. It had one single tower that pierced the sky with smaller towers on either side of the entrance. The Cathedral itself was covered in what appeared to be Ice and clear jewels. Roxanne went up to the wall and actually touched the side.
"It's cold..." She said, withdrawing her hand. "It's actually made with some Ice! But how...?"
"It's the Cathedral of Ice, made by the Angels themselves..." Janon said in his droning voice that irritated Ryo. "It doesn't surprise me it's made from Ice, idiot Witch."
Ryo reached for his sword, but Leo grabbed the hilt before him. Roxanne reached for her Needles that were strapped to her waist, but stopped when she saw Leo had stopped Ryo.
"Come on!" Steel ordered, ascending the stairs to the Cathedral's entrance. Janon followed, walking with his arrogance and pride showing. Ryo rolled his eyes before following.
The inside of the Cathedral was lit by the moon's light shining through the Ice. Roxanne shivered slightly, being the one least dressed for cooler conditions inside the Cathedral. There were rows and pews on either side with a tall ceiling. The ceiling held carvings in the Ice that pictures the creation of the world from the Camarian point of view. The carvings closest to the door showed destruction and madness that was the Great War. In the middle were carvings of people praying to the Heavens, and Seven Angels descending the Heavens. The Angel of Ice was the most distinguished out of the Seven. Then the carvings near the altar at the end of the great Cathedral depicted the Angel of Ice in all of his glory, surrounded by Ice Users who had gained their power because of him. Beside the Angel was also his son, the first born Descender of the Angel of Ice. Ryo found himself sickened that he did resemble Janon in a faint, distant way.
"Here..." Steel said, walking upon the Alter. Janon glanced around, pretending not to be impressed with the Cathedral, and approached the Alter. Steel motioned for Janon to stand upon and Alter, and Janon did so, slowly.
"Now what?" Janon said in his annoying voice. "Let's get this over with."
"You should know what to do." Steel said. "You have the Blood of the Angel of Ice. You figure it out."
Ryo, Leo, and Roxanne all watched in silence. Janon stood dumbfounded at being abandoned by Steel. He quickly summoned up his courage and brushed his greasy hair back in an arrogant manner.
"Quit messing around!" Steel yelled. His voice echoed off the Ice Palace back to Janon. Janon quickly observed the Alter and saw there were small, faint carvings all around him. He held both hands forward and closed his eyes, focusing on summoning the power of Ice.
When the Ice was summoned to his hands, the carvings around the Alter lit up, and traveled around the walls and ceilings of the great Cathedral. A whirring noice filled the air, so penetrating, Ryo, Leo, and Roxanne all covered their ears from the screeching. Janon's face became frightened and uncertain, but the glare from Steel forced him to continue powering the Cathedral with his summoned Ice. Cracks traveled along the Ice that made the palace, until cracks covered the entire Cathedral. The Cathedral did not collapse, and Janon's power ended, and the lights from the Ice disappeared.
Ryo removed his hands from his ears along with Roxanne and Leo. "Was that it?" he asked, looking around. The Cathedral seemed to be stripped of its beauty. The moonlight that had shimmered through the Ice lost it's brilliance since the Ice was now cracked and shattered and was now more dull. The ancient carvings in the Ice had lost their impact upon them, and were now barely visible. The entire Cathedral seemed weaker.
"That's it..." Steel said quietly in his satisfied voice. He looked around the ruined Cathedral, and let out a laugh. Janon gave Steel a confused look and slowly descended the altar.
"It makes me sad..." Roxanne said. Her soft voice echoed slightly in the great ruined hall. "That something that was once so beautiful is now ruined.
"Who cares?" Janon said, glancing about and kicked a fallen piece of ice. "It didn't impress me anyways..."
A wicked smile slowly made its way onto Ryo's face. He remembered something Roxanne had said to him earlier, and he drew his sword. He made sure Leo wasn't in his way to stop him. He took a stance and pointed Eliazar's Blade at Janon.
"What are you doing?" Janon's eyes grew wide, and he took a clumsy step back.
Steel held up a hand to stop Leo and Roxanne. He saw something entertaining coming from this.
"You had Eliazar killed..." Ryo said, his voice had its own darkness, and his eyes had changed once again to their brilliant, unnatural green color.
"You didn't seriously think I was going to let you get away from that unpunished?"

End
