BAHD Epilogue: World's First Murderer

The World's First Murderer
Epilogue

Ken had driven them past the mountains, into the valley where the Razada House resided. It was at the Southern exit of the valley where he had finally stopped the Camarian military truck.
Everyone had fallen asleep except Ryo. The pain of his shoulder prevented him from sleeping, as much as he wanted to. Night was falling again and he sat alone next to the truck, holding his left shoulder Leo had bandaged. The rest were laying in and around the truck, all sleeping.
"I can't sleep..." Leo said, walking up behind Ryo. Ryo glanced up at him.
"Me neither..." he said softly.
"What happened to Steel...?" Leo asked, not looking at his brother. Ryo looked down at his hands, and flexed them slowly, thinking about how to tell Leo. He still hadn't told anyone.
"One of us needed to die to close the last Gate..." he said. "Steel had been planning...to kill us all in the end, to put a complete stop to all the Angels..."
Leo remained silent for a long while, thinking. Ryo didn't say anything either.
"Does your shoulder still hurt?" Leo asked at last.
"Like a bitch..." Ryo said with a weak laugh. Leo stood up and began walking away down the valley. Towards the Razada House.
"Then come on...I'll find you something for the pain," Leo said. Ryo followed quickly, wondering why on earth Leo would return to the Razada House, just to get him something for his pain. He caught up to his twin, still holding his shoulder with his free hand.
"Leo, do you feel any weaker? Since I closed the Gate?" Ryo asked, staring ahead. "I don't feel any weaker..."
"No..." Leo answered quietly. "We're all the Descendants of Angels, we were born with our strength, it wasn't given to us by the Gates. That's why we were unaffected. Even Davis and Kaira won't get any weaker..."
Ryo walked on in silence. They slowly came upon the Razada House. It was all dark in the oncoming night, with no guards at the front gates, and nowhere else in sight. Leo and Ryo both watched around cautiously, in case there was someone hiding, but they found none.
The inside of the House was just as deserted and dark. Ryo and Leo slowly walked through the silent House, uncertain of what had happened. Leo led Ryo to a storage closet where the shelves were full of bottles, all with different labels. Leo looked through these until he found the one he was looking for. He opened the bottle and dumped out two white capsules that he handed to Ryo.
"Take these..." Leo said, putting the rest of the bottle in his pocket. "They'll help take the edge off the pain."
Ryo looked at the suspicious capsules, then looked around at the hundreds of bottles around them, all labeled differently.
"Are you sure these are the right ones?" he asked. Leo gave him a disbelieving stare.
"Who's the one who can read?" Leo asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You..."
"And who's the prodigy?" Ryo took the hint and swallowed the capsules whole. He walked away from Leo further into the empty House. He wandered until he found himself in front of the doors to Kain's throneroom. He looked back to see if Leo had followed him. Leo was nowhere to be seen. Ryo pushed the door open with his good arm.
A man with vibrant red eyes stood alone in the room, staring out into the dying garden. His hair was slightly longer and was dark brown with a hint of red to it. He wore white pants and a white jacket. Ryo stopped and stared at the unexpected man. He subconsciously reached down to grab the hilt of his sword. The man slowly turned, glancing at Ryo. Behind him, Ryo heard Leo walk up behind him.
"I thought you'd stop by here..." the man said, looking away again. His voice was quiet and low, but had an air of power. "There's only ten of you left now, isn't there...Steel is gone?"
"Who are you?" Ryo said, still gripping his sword.
"Kain."
Ryo glanced back at Leo, questioning. When he looked back, the man had turned to face them. His body went alight, then morphed itself into the form of the Kain they knew. Older, and more solemn.
"I can't shape-shift as freely as Nayota did..." Kain said. "I can only take on the forms of people I've killed...but I've found, that looking older, people tend to give you more respect...you haven't come back to stay, have you Lion?"
"No..." Leo's voice was cold. Kain turned his back to them, slowly walking to his throne.
"That's too bad, Lion..." Kain's body morphed again into the younger body Ryo and Leo had first seen. "Do you know whose body this is...? It was my father's, the Angel of Fire...the first Angel to die in this world...I've found that I can escape the weakness age gives me by staying in a younger form..."
Ryo and Leo remained silent, by the door. Kain sat on his throne, slouched down resting his head on one of his hands. He opened his eyes and stared at them, a smile making its way onto his face.
"How does your transformation go, Demon? I bet Camaria has awakened it..."
"Transformation...? Awakened...?" Ryo asked, confused. He looked at Leo. "What's he talking about?"
"It's nothing..." Leo said. Kain laughed softly.
"I have a pleasant feeling we'll be meeting again..." Kain said. He closed his eyes. "You may leave now..."
Ryo looked between Leo and Kain, wondering what he had meant. He felt a small fury at being told to leave.
"Let's go..." Ryo said, walking past Leo. Leo gave Kain one last look, before following Ryo out.
Night had fallen when they exited the Razada House. Ryo stopped in at the front gates, looking back at the House. He slowly raised his right arm, and held it toward the House. A flamethrower of flames erupted from his hand, and flew to the House. The House caught on Fire, and it slowly spread throughout the entire estate, burning everything. Ryo stood for a long time, watching it burn with Leo. The support beams fell to the flames, and the House was gone.
"It won't kill him..." Leo said softly.
"I know..." Ryo said, still watching the flames eat away at the House. "I wasn't trying to kill him..."
They watched the House burn for a few more minutes before leaving again. Ryo looked up the mountain to where the others were all still sleeping. None of them had ever noticed they were gone.
