“Garry, why again are we traveling to an art auction, I have no interest in art any painter can create?” Shifibaku asked seeming board, the long ride obviously getting to him. “Why, you’ve never seemed you so forgetful before lord Shifibaku may it be that you choose to forget or are you anxious?” Garry had been answering the same question ever since they had decided to go. “That may be the case, although I have no desire to see art let alone place a bid for any.” Lord Yamastu slumped back into his seat. “Did you not say you attended college with Mothman?” Garry questioned. “That I did, though he was annoying and full of him-self.”
As they pulled up in front of Mothman manor a faint sound of classical music could be heard throughout the main hall and out into the roundabout. The band had started over five hours prior to their arrival. Shifibaku saw no point of being on time for something he did not care much for. From the look of it other people had thought the same thing. Shifibaku stepped from the coach and looked around, maybe these other late comers where his type of people. The chief of security (and young count) Henry Jerry, after checking in with his patrol
went back inside to join in on the auction. An unusually large carriage pulled up and let off a Count Jerrico of a land far in the dessert. He stood like he owned the world the way he poised him-self, and followed boy his young slave boy whose sol purpose was to hold Jerrico’s things.
Garry had left to inform Mothman of their arrival in hope they could somehow have a better experience as friends. Shifibaku walked around on the grass stalling the annoying reintroduction that would pry at his patience for Edward Mothman. Many more faces that had no significance to Shifibaku came all pulled together by a place to buy expensive art. An hour later he decided that he would join the others in pretends that he hasn’t been avoiding Edward. Just as he was about to enter a small dark coach arrived. Seeing an easy extra minute he waited to hold the door for these other guests. The coach man was dressed in a tunic and equipped with a sword. Opening the coach door he let out a young woman in a strangely entreeging gown. The wind seemed to calm as her feet touched the cobble stones. Then followed by a young girl no older than five jumped out in a matching dress and a child’s school hat. Shifibaku was clueless on to who they were. In steed of moving the coach the man followed then in. as they passed Shifibaku could smell a faint perfume on the young lady. The kid bounced by taking both the ladies and the man’s hand. This made Shifibaku feel more interested in being here tonight. He decided that he would talk to Edward quickly and then mingle a little with a face in mind.
Edward seemed pleased that so many people who came brought a friend. His smile was almost fiendish and made most avoid him, he didn’t mind that, but it surprised him that Lord Shifibaku Yamastu was approaching with a smile on his face. From what Edward could
remember the man kept to him-self and hated most social activities. It was a shot in the dark to invite him. “Good afternoon Yamastu, how are you enjoying the auction?” Edward asked. “A bit crowded for my taste Mothman, but some of the company is a good keep.” Shifibaku said to show a bit of his old self to keep Edward at a distance. “Well, I’m off to the most sinister corner to separate from the ‘joy’ of the party.” Shifibaku said as his way of saying bye, leave me alone! Edward didn’t mind because Shifibaku is the last person he wanted to be disrupting atmosphere.
