Tiger Woods (USA) will not compete in the US Professional Golf (PGA) Tour's Players Championship, the fifth major of the year.
The Associated Press and other news outlets reported on Monday (Aug. 8) that Woods was not included in the Players Championship field. The Players Championship is scheduled to begin on Aug. 15. Woods' absence means his spot will go to Sweden's Alexander Bjork.
Woods, who underwent ankle surgery after withdrawing from the Masters in April last year, made a comeback at the Genesis Invitational last month but withdrew after just 24 holes due to a cold. At the time, 안전놀이터 he vowed to play once a month ahead of the majors.
The Valspar Championship, the Houston Open at Texas Children's and the Valero Texas Open are the three events leading up to the Masters, which begins on April 11.
