So I thought I'd really like to share my love for music with theOtaku!
'Cause, you know, why not? Right?
And if you're an audiophile/music-lover, too, and you're reading this, then let's have a moment a silence to relate to one another.
...
Done?
So, yeah. I'm not a crazy audiophile, but I do own about 10 pairs of good-quality headphones (including Audio-Technica, Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser, AKG, Beats, Phillips, Bose, et cetera), and I absolutely LOVE music.
Music is my life besides design.
I listen to some weirder genres, but it's okay. I am Asian, so I do listen to KPop, JPop, and JRock. But I am also Western, so I do listen to rock, pop, electronic, alternative, rap, hip-hop, and dance and stuff.
My favorite genres are KPop, JPop, dubstep, glitch, trap, bass&drums, drumstep, hip-hop, dance, rap, reggaeton, and hybrids between all of them.

So... yeah.
I do listen to classical, sometimes, but not really. But melody's important, obviously, beat's important, obviously, lyrics are important. Every harmony, every rhythm is important.
Some of the best voices, in my opinion, are 96neko, Che:Sakurai, Changmin (TVXQ/DBSK), Jonghyun (SHINee), Rihanna, P!nk, Adele, Nate Ruess (Fun.), MIKA, Taeil (Block B), Henry, Lon, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Bruno Mars, Danny (Hollywood Undead), Kyuhyun (Super Junior), Chen (EXO), Baekhyun (EXO), and Yoseob (Beast).
I do like rap a fair amount, and some of the best rappers, in my opinion, are Childish Gambino, B.o.B., Ilhoon (BtoB), Zico (Block B), Kyung (Block B), Junhyung (Beast), Rome (C-Clown), G-Dragon, T.K (C-Clown), Zelo (B.A.P.), Dongwoo (INFINITE), Suga (Bangtan Boys), J.Hope (Bangtan Boys), Rap Monster (Bangtan Boys), Jungkook (Bangtan Boys), Charlie Scene (Hollywood Undead), Johnny 3 Tears (Hollywood Undead), Outsider, Verbal Jint, Vasco, Sangchu, Joosuc, Eminem, Pitbull and Paz.
But, yeah, music's a big thing for me. I, personally, play the violin, piano, electric guitar, and clarinet.
I've always loved how... how it just triggers something inside of you, you know? Whether it be emotion, or movement, or whatever, music has an effect upon you.
My favorite songs tend to lean towards either emotion through lyrics (generally sad lyrics or poetic lyrics, I like sadder songs) or beats/melodies that just make me shed shame and feel confident. If I follow every note and every syllable, I lapse into a subconscious state where there is only the music, and I don't have to worry about anything or think about anything.
Music instills pride, for me.
But it also instills sadness.
I enjoy sadder songs much more than happier songs (when it comes to songs in which the lyrics are the focus), however I prefer upbeat and sharp songs as opposed to slow songs (when it comes to songs in which the beat/rhythms/melodies are the focus). In general, though, I must say, I prefer faster songs over slower songs.
A lot of my international music influences came from my encounters with people from all over the world. Colombians, Dominicans, and Mexicans introduced me to reggaeton. Taiwanese, Japanese, Koreans, Chinese, and Americans introduced me to KPop. Indians, Filipinos, and Americans introduced me to JPop/JRock. Germans introduced me to miscellaneous German musics.
I like to think I have a well-rounded awareness of different types of music, but unfortunately my preferences are highly narrowed down to a certain genre and type of music.
Oh, well.
