This book, 19 Minutes by Jodi Piccoult, reminds me a lot of the book After by Francine Prose. They are both about a school shooting for one. But they also both talk about some of the before and after affects of the shooting. In the book After, the school turns into a prison to them. They get fences, guards, the whole works. In 19 Minutes, one of the main characters, the shooter, Peter, actually is in prison and the other students feel like they are trapped, because everything reminds them of that terrible day. Plus, one minor connection being that they both got metal detectors after the school shootings. These are just a few similarites in the 2 books that remind me of each other.
