In the book, Can I Play by J. Dillard, Keli and her friend Charlee are in some ways alike and in some ways different. First of all, they are alike because they both play volleyball. They are different though because Keli is good and Charlee isn't. They also both attended the same volleyball camp, but Charlee quit and Keli didn't. They have the same friends, like Stick, but different values. Keli will dedicate herself to something and give it all she's got and she will never quit. Nothing is too hard if she sets her mind to it. Charlee on the other hand thinks something is impossible and quits as soon as it gets a little hard. They both did attend the same school, but now don't because Keli moved to a school with a better volleyball program. Charlee stayed because she was afraid. They both also used to be some of the town favorites, but now Keli is hated because she left her team giving them no chances of winning and Charlee is one of the people doing the hating. Neither one hang out with each other anymore, but Charlee just wants to fight, and Keli is mature enough to not fight back. They used to be friends, but now they're not.
