Junai Tokko Taicho!

Mmkay! So, though it isn't the greatest series plot-wise, I really liked the Manga "Power!!" (AKA Girl Got Game ) by Shizuru Seino. It's a shojo, a girly manga, which kinda irritates me cos I'm not a huge fan of the shojo. But it's not that girly, and it's really funny to me. So I read it.

Then, today, I noticed a new manga by the same author called Love Attack (Junai Tokko Taicho!) and I had time to kill, so I read it. It is pretty funny, and I knew the characters were slightly familiar. The main girl is Chiemi, a tough chick who always gets in fights and such, and the main guy is Hirata, a tough guy. Hirata is very noticeable because he has dark skin. I thought they were vaguely familiar...so I checked my Power!!! (I like the original name best) volume Nine, and looked...YUP~!

Hirata is a very minor character is one part of Power!! He works as a construction dude. Power!! came first, so I guess the author liked the characters and decided to write about them =D

For whatever reason, it makes me happy!!!

Now I want to check out Heaven!!

I hate people, I really do. Everyone I care about pushes me away. My mom just watches tv and complains about everything. My dad, I don't really care that much about, thinks about himself most of the time. Antonio won't talk about himself, claims to hate myspace, but joins a myspace rip-off for people that have his fetish. Not saying he shouldn't, but it hurts me that he won't share with me. My sister, Tamara, is always holed up in her house, kinda shy. And my best friend Mayte is too busy to see me. I've been back a month and she hasn't seen me except that one day, when we were supposed to hang out, she canceled, I was disappointed but understood because she had valid reasons. But then, when hanging at the mall with Antonio and Tamara, we ran into her, shopping. And every time I ask her when we can hang out, she doesn't know. Does she not want to see me? I hate people.

owww

woe is me...my poor body hurts. Hiking for over 3 hours, plus long riding to and from the mountains, plus walking outside for 2 and a half hours...not good. My poor body. Upper half, is okay. Lower half, well, ouch. my ass, thighs, and right above my knees, particularly the left side because i lead with my left, hurrrrrrrrrts. stupid body.

i took some ibuprofen. hopefully it works.

LOL just wanted to complain =/

The Worst Aspect

Much as I love the MANGA for Samurai Deeper Kyo, the main problem I have with it is the way women are represented. I know there is Shihodo, a very aggressive lady, and even more aggressive Akari (technically a man but technically a woman), Okuni who is manipulative, Sakuya who is wise, Mahiro who is passionate, Kosuke who is loyal, and Yuya who is the main female character.

Let's start with Yuya. She's sweet, loyal, stubborn, amusing, caring, brave, and determined. Those are good qualities, but at the beginning of the series, she is a much more willful, abrasive, and independent girl. She can fight at least a little bit. But as the story progresses, and she becomes more involved with Kyo, she becomes weaker. Always getting herself into trouble and getting hurt. What gives? Is she a weak little princess always in need of rescue? As strong as Kyo is supposed to be, I think his woman should be a tough chick -like Yuya starts out as. I like Yuya all the way through the series, but I just wish she had some of the spark she starts out with throughout.

Shihodo is probably the most interesting female in the series. She's a woman, but she's crass and willful and very, very strong. The main problem is the way her love makes her weak. In the end she overcomes it, so it's a good character development.

As for Akari, she (he?) is interesting in that she is very feminine but wasn't that way originally. Her love makes her stronger. But she is like that because she was a man, in body and mind. Personality traits developed when her mindset was still male transcribed over into female mentality. She isn't being rebellious as, for example, Yuya (should be).

The rest of them are stereotypically female. It kinda irks me. I want to see tomboyish, rebellious, stubborn, mean, and tough girls, because I'm that way. I'm not a nice person, and I like to see likable characters with similar traits. Plus, particularly in Japanese culture where you are more expected to fit into a mold than in our culture, girls are expected to be girly. And in Samurai Deeper Kyo, the female characters are more stereotypical than the males.

This has been bugging me for a while. It's mainly the Yuya thing, but the other part a bit, too. I'm not feminist anything past "everybody (males and females) should be who they really are, who they want to be. gender doesn't really matter."

AND! I'm really excited for Vol. 29 on Tuesday. I really love that volume!!!!!!!!!!!

My eye itches, bitches

blah. I thought i might try to get the hang of this "theotaku" crap, since i'm bored and dangerous...to myself...not in the bad way! Also, I'm rather hungry. damn.

I have officially added the Cherry Creek area to my personal axis of evil. Yup. no good can come of that place.

oh and a guy asked for my number on the bus. It was rather flattering, and it again proved my theory that only black and hispanic guys are attracted to me. not that i mind that.

anddddd i fed my froggie crickets, he's happy
