Three Years

Kiki laughed, leaning over the table when Arthur - otherwise know as Art - finished his dramatic re-enactment of the professor's glorious faceplant in the middle of the lecture hall. He slid back into his seat, shoulder colliding with Kiki's in a familiar manner; her laugh quieted just slightly.

“You guys should have been there. I mean holy... Wow,” he struggled to exclaim, his breath still ragged from the laughter and exertion. Kiki ruffled the mop of ash brown hair on his head - a few shades off a well-toned sandy brown - subtly pushing him away in the process.

“Wish I could have been there, Art. Of course, that would mean we have the same courses, and then we'd never get anything done!” His responding beam was almost blinding.

“I'm sure we could get lots done, hon,” he answered, his eyebrows doing that wave across his forehead he was well-known for. Kiki didn't understand his meaning until Chantelle, across the table, slapped her hand down, scandalized.

“Art! You can't imply such things to Kiki! To even think of soiling the innocent angel...!” Art made a face at her over-emotive display, obviously done in jest. Kiki only smiled at their antics. Both were friends she'd made in her Statistics class, although they were both going for Computer Engineering PhD’s. She was still working through the last years of her Bachelor of Science, minoring in foreign literature and psychology, with a focus on human anatomy and medicine. She'd already been given conditional acceptance into the Faculty of Occupational and Physical therapy; she just needed her marks to stay up. Just before Art leaned back against her, she gathered her bag and her two textbooks, giving them a slight wave.

“I know you guys have class soon, so I won't distract you. I'm meeting a friend from out of town now anyway!” Art looked about to protest, but Chantelle cut him off.

“I thought you had class Tuesday afternoons.”

“Prof's given us the week off with exams coming up soon, but see you guys later!” She gave them one final wave and dashed out of the lounge.
