Today, for Veteran's Day/Remembrance Day. I decided to share something I know about the military which some may not. Its kind of in the same vane as what SomeGuy does, but I feel like sharing this anyway. I will be discussing what it means for a military statue to have a man on a horse with one or both front hooves in the air.
Both hooves in the air:
The rider died in battle.
One hoof in the air:
The rider survived the battle but died of injuries sustained in battle.
All four hooves on the ground:
The rider died from causes other than battle.
Now, apparently on Wiki, there isnt any proof to these claims. But it did apply to veterans who served in the American Civil War.
On a semi-related note, I would like to mention that my Grandpa on my Dad's side of the family served many years in the Navy. And was a veteran of the Korean War. So today, I do this partly for him.
I also have two friends serving in the Marines right now overseas. Today, I wish them the best of luck, and a speedy and safe return home. Semper Fi, guys.
