Retrospections

Ive been seeing the "Decade's Favorite Anime" lists around. Im not going to do one of those, but I will give you a line or two for each year this past decade.

2000 - I turned 16. Parents got divorced, moved in with mom part time.

2001 - Started my senior year of high school. 9/11 obviously, moved in with mom full time.

2002 - Graduated high school, underachievement accomplished. Start hacking my way through a bunch of shitty part time jobs

(Somewhere in 2002 and 2003 I discover anime, but was the very definition of a "casual fan")

2003 - Spent most of it in Wyoming, wishing the state was nuked. Betrayed by my best friends. Discovered TheOtaku.com and MyOtaku.com in October, start getting into more anime than what is on tv.

2004 - Came home from Wyoming with degree in Automotive Technology, find out that nobody cares about that. Job market sucks, start hacking through more shitty part time jobs.

2005 - Turn 21, start working at Lakeside Transportation. And wishing I was still hacking away at shitty part time jobs.

2006 - Hardest year of my life, my mom passes away. Stress and adult life smack me in the face and kick me in the nuts.

2007 - Still working at the bus company. Not making enough money to survive on my own, I am forced to move back in with my dad and brother. First ACEN in May.

2008 - Routine, monotony, stress, repeat. Bus Company sucks even worse, but in no way am I able to quit. Making more money, but not enough to live on my own. Second ACEN(LINECON 08! WOOT) followed by the first time I ever left the country, Anime North in Toronto.

2009 - Routine, monotony, stress, repeat. Bus Company sucks even worse, but in no way am I able to quit. Still cant afford to live on my own. I visit a buddy friend in Missouri, but its too cold to enjoy most of it. ACEN 2009. Youmacon in Detroit was epic fun.
