While no longer a guest of LineCon 08, I decided to check out ACEN, the con I wanted to go to from the beginning.
I did not go to any panels, which is fine, because nothing really jumped out at me. Well, Your Favorite Anime Sucks! did, but that was during the Epic Failure TheOtaku.com Meetup. As Katana said, only five of us showed up, but it was cool nonetheless.
Fasteriskhead was asking of good convention stories, but my "good" stories always seemed to have somewhat of a bit of misfortune. But hey, nothing says a good time to a cynic like a little bad luck. I spoke of LineCon on Friday, meeting Shinkiro and MsKeller last year. We talked about what we posted in last years con reports. I told the story of Shinkiro trying to save a few bucks, and flying into the wrong airport, on the other side of town, during rush hour, on a getaway day(Lots of people leaving Chicago on a Thursday).
Katana, its still pretty easy to get you to laugh. ^__^
We spent about two hours just shooting the breeze. We noticed the futuristic Space Nazis were there again this year. Same room in fact, odd.

I was also in cosplay for the very first time. I didnt get much of a reaction, a couple people told me the costume looked good, including a dealer as I was walking by. One girl, cosplaying Okita Souji, asked me if I was cosplaying a specific character, or if I was just another "Disposable Shinsengumi Member"
Bitch...
Sunday, not much going on, one last stroll through the dealer room, a quick look at artist alley. I only had on my haori, full costume would have been a pain in the ass. But one girl, asked what the logo on the back of my coat was, and her friend, before I could answer, and this part is just extra special, knew what it was. Somebody actually recognized the Blue Oyster Cult Chronos on the back of my haori. Made my fucking weekend. Not only did they know who BOC were, but they knew what the logo was.
That was ACEN 2008, I pre-registered for 2009, and told them to mail me my damn badge, there is no way I am going through that shit again.
