In my literature class we had to choose a character, and analyze them. It could be from any book, movie, show, anything. I chose Haruhi Suzumiya. ^^ Hope you like~

Character Analysis: Haruhi Suzumiya
By: scoodi
Haruhi Suzumiya is the main and titular character of the series of novels by Nagaru Tanigawa, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. In the series, Haruhi is a girl who is bored with the world, wishing for strange things to happen. Little does she know, anything she wishes for becomes reality. She creates an after school club who’s main goal is to seek out these weird occurrences and people, such as alien, espers, and time travelers. But because she wanted to find these sorts of things, those are the exact kinds of people she has in her club (even if she doesn’t know it): an alien, an esper, and a time traveler.
Haruhi is known for being the strange, yet oddly beautiful, girl at North High. Kyon, an average and sarcastic boy who acts as her second-in-command, is forced to follow her around. Haruhi can be very demanding, yet often gets her way. Those around her, namely the alien, the esper, and the time traveler, allow her to do as she pleases, to ensure that Haruhi won’t horribly alter the world.
Always passionate about her actions, Haruhi decided that she wouldn’t be just like every other, normal person. At one point, she tells Kyon the story of how when she was a middle schooler, she realized how many people there are in the world, and how even when you think you’re special, in reality you grow up to do all the same things everyone else does.
An example of Haruhi’s quirkiness is she likes to dress Mikuru Asahina, the resident, cute time traveler, up in costumes. Haruhi’s plan is that dressing Mikuru as, say, a maid, will help attract more people to join their club, the SOS Brigade. Even though Mikuru is against it, she’s weak, and also doesn’t want to anger Haruhi.
Yuki Nagato, a quiet alien girl who reads books, was sent to study Haruhi. Yuki is also an example herself of Haruhi being able to order people around. Haruhi had been looking for a room to use for her new club, and found that the Literature room only had one member in it. So, taking the room, she also decided Yuki was in the club without even asking her.
And lastly, Itsuki Koizumi, an esper who always puts on a façade of smiles, was sent from his "Agency" to not only monitor Haruhi, but also protect the world as well. When Haruhi becomes angry or stressed, she creates alternate dimensions where large, monster-like beings called Shinjin destroy alternate-reality cities, called "closed space". Itsuki is there, along with other members from the "Agency", to stop and get rid of the large beings. If the "Agency" doesn’t destroy the Shinjin, eventually the whole world will become one large "closed space", where only Haruhi will be able to choose whether or not she will let people continue their lives.
Even though it seems like being around Haruhi is a stressful and risky ordeal, in reality she’s a very caring, thoughtful person. She especially has a soft spot for her friend, Kyon. During the cold, rainy months there’s a time when Kyon falls asleep in the clubroom. After everyone leaves, Haruhi stays behind to wait for him, and even lets him use her jacket. Of course, when he wakes up, she blushes and denies that she ever did such a thing.
Haruhi Suzumiya is my favorite character in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya because she’s weird, funny, caring, athletic, smart, and an incredibly deep and interesting character.

And in case anyone's curious, Haruhi's not really my favorite, but I needed a good ending.
