Suddenly, a voice spoke out in the silence. “Men that traverse from the land of the blade, you shall submit to the elders of the light.” Both men looked around at the ominous figure standing tall dressed in hooded attire.
The mans hooded cloak concealed him to the outside world, a tension excelled from him, stunning both the men standing there. His words entwining in their ears. The man spoke once again, his lungs expelling air with every sentence. “You are searching for the key to your salvation. The mystic truth lies beyond the imagination.” The man grew a smirk on his face, broad yet defined. “Now submit to the elders of light, or die at their knees.”
Both men drew their swords, almost instantaneously. The man threw his cloak open and drew out a white blade, glittering in the sun. Both men realized this wasn’t a man but a women.
She stood talk and proud as her hair waved vigorously in the wind. Dust spiraled up into the air, blocking the men’s vision, gust of wind whipped against the ground flickering dirt around. The woman’s eyes were fixed upon his eyes, he returned her stare.
“We do not submit…” As he said this she flung into the men, blade risen. The woman thrust her sword rapidly at him, effortlessly he dodged and parried her blows and strike her with the handle of his blade sending her smashing into ground. He wasn’t surprised that she was this weak, he spoke out to her. “You worship false leaders that have given you no power, you are weak and helpless.”
The woman raised her head to greet the men’s. With a quick motion she flung her blade at them. Both men dodged, smiling. The woman’s entire face grew red with anger. She rose to her feet and drew out a small knife.
Immediately her expression froze, eyes closed as blood dripped from her mouth. Crashing to the floor, she screamed in agony. Forthwith came another woman, placing her foot on the helpless woman lying half dead on the ground.
His eyes were drawn straight to her arm, it was raised in the air with scythe in hand. A menacing expression crept onto her face as see crushed the woman on the floor, squeals of pain rushing from her. Blood stained the earth where the body lay, her pale skin, sucked of color, stood out on the green canvas covering the earth.
The sky was bleached gray as far as the eye could see. Both men were tantalized by the sudden change of atmosphere. Their faces glared into the heavens, searching the cloud for signs of the previous light. The new woman laughed, she started to back away step by step.
Gripping his sword, he charged full speed into the woman jabbing his blade straight through her stomach, blood gushing out. Her mouth drew open and hanged low. Blood dripped from her lips, drip by drip. Her eye grew as the pain seared through her. He ripped his blade back out of her and looked at the blood drenched over the metal. He pulled the woman’s hair towards him and cleaned his blade with it.
“Innocent deaths…they didn’t know what they were getting into.” His brother looked at him with concern, “you didn’t have to kill her, we could have just left her.” He looked up into the sky, “I don’t think it’s worth letting anyone that isn’t helping live if they are trying to kill us,” his eyes squinting into the distance as he spoke.
It dropped to silence again, the men started to scan the area. There was no one else here. He looked at his brother with a confused face, “What do you like the woman meant by the elders?”
[BREAK]
”I’m not sure, but I don’t think I want to find out.”
”I didn’t think about it back then, but could these elders be the people that cant be found?”
“I don’t think we can trust them to find out.”
“They could know who she meant…”
“But if they don’t then we have just told them about her and if they have anyone stronger than those two then we could be in trouble.”
As they searched the village the sky cleared once again and the air cleared of dust. The sun shone out, illuminating the place hidden by darkness just moments ago. Fear was stretched across the faces of both men, their eyes filled with sorrow as their minds mourned the death of those killed.
Devastation shattered through him as he came across bodies. Death gripping his eyes as he screamed out into the sky. Rage was coursing through his entire entity, his eyes flooding with tears. His face was clenched as he tried to refrain from the crying. He dropped to the ground in utter shock, the world was falling apart right in front of him. He looked into the distance as the sun was escaping the sky, beams of orange and pink bounced into his view. Purity was still here, his hopes lifted as he watched the glittering sun faded to the ground. He watched as a single bird sprung out of a nearby tree, gracefully soaring up into the sky. He stood in awe of the great beauty that was entwined in the birds movements. The bird blew away into the sunset, lost in the sky. He couldn’t see hope in the darkness to come.
“It wasn’t your fault, you know.” He heard his brothers voice fill his ears. “You cant save everyone, this is a war, people will die, you have to accept that.”
“I cant just let them perish!” His eye flared with anger. “ They need my help, and I let them down when I was only inches from them.”
“ You cant control fate like this, it is beyond human hands.”
“ But there is something I can do, and not even you can stop me from trying.”
“ What! What can you do to save these people in this doomed land?”
“ You have lost hope, I can find what cannot be found.”
“ You are a fool.”
“ A fool with the power to save his race.” His brother smirked.
“ Then let the stars be our nightlight, we will find what cannot be found.” His face calmed as he rose back to his feet. Shadows crept over his body as night revealed his torturing curse.
Darkness’ grip shredded into the landscape, disturbing the nature and manipulating the horizon. The men walked along the path leading into the mountains, silence was separating their minds. Each man a completely different person in every way, they were of different builds and different colored hair and different looks.
[BREAK]
“Uka…” He spun his head round at the sound of his name breaking the silence. “ When I first set eyes upon you, I knew you would be the man with the greatest heart I’d ever see, you have proved me to be right.” He looked at the ground. “ You need to know how much I want to save these people.” He brother looked at him, “ You need to distance yourself sometimes, if you get too attached then it’s going to destroy you when someone you love is killed.” Uka looked straight into his brothers eyes, “Pzao…till now I thought you had a great heart, you wanted to save our people with a passion. You saw what was going to happen and you knew what we needed to do.” Pzao looked with despair at Uka. Uka’s word cut him. Pzao rose his voice, “you don’t understand how much faith you need to believe that girl, to go along with a story that could potentially get us killed.” Uka stopped, “maybe it’s time we showed what we really think.”
“You know what I’m thinking, I can’t pretend that she’s nothing special, but you have to look at your options. You can’t decide what to go for, it’s all about trust.”
Uka turned away from his brother, disgust warping his mind. Their worlds seem so distant, lost in a lake of disappointment and grief. Both men strived for different goals. Neither saw the other eye to eye.
The tension between them greatened, Uka broke it. “There is no way we can work together, only the true can find what cannot be found.” Pzao stared at him, “how do you know that? You cant make up rules…” Uka pulled out the scrap of paper with the message written on it, he flipped it over, as the paper crumpled, he read aloud; “ ‘Only those that are rid of selfish desires can find what cannot be found, the man that goes because he needs to not because he wants, the ancients wait asleep for the selfish man.’ See.”
Pzao’s face squinted at the paper, flapping in the wind. His mouth was drooped in and his eyes full of shame. Uka whipped the paper of him, and scowled at him. “Maybe it’s time we went our separate ways…do what you will.” Uka started headed off in a different direction, Pzao closely following behind. “What do you mean? You cant just leave.”
Uka’s face darkened, “If you are not going to help me then there is no point me sticking with you, just do what you will.”
“I still want to help, but you seem not to know that. I will search somewhere else.” Pzao parted with Uka and they traversed in completely different directions.
Uka stared into the luscious forest carpeting the mountains, “such beauty,” he murmured to himself. He watched as the star light danced of the green tops, birds darting from tree to tree. He thought about what the girl said, his mind was nearly lost in the beauty and anger that boiled inside him. “I understand now, what cannot be found is not found, just not yet discovered.”
He turned to shout to his brother but he was far gone. “He will never know…” Uka fixed his eyes on the horizon for any sign of his brother but the darkness cloaked any sign of life. He then turned his concentration onto the forest that spread out in front of him.
He started into the night sky, “let the stars be my nightlight…” He strode on towards the forest, when suddenly, something caught his attention. A girl, lying upon the ground. Blood was oozing out of her, and her body pale white. But the most amazing thing he noticed. Her ears. They were pointed.
Small fragments of lights seeped from her mouth with every breath she took. She was alive. His eyes were taken aback by her beauty, but his mind was sending him questions that needed to be answered. “What is she? Where is she from?” He pulled up the body into his arms, she was light, extremely light. He spun his head to face the forest. “Find what cannot be found…this might be my clue.”
He headed for the forest, gliding as the nights chill brushed off his face. The moon illuminated the entire forest, he froze. Light entangled between the leaves and vines, specks of light dashed from tree to tree. The forest flashed with color splashed over every leaf. Uka’s eyes shone up at the sight of it, his eyes traced down to the body he was holding. Her eyes were open, big and glittering in the light…
