I found these tips on how to be more self disciplined from different places:
1. Eliminate the Guilt (source-article that caught my attention one day: BBC Future)
Apparently our brains associate the feeling of guilt with pleasure so feeling guilty about doing something makes you want to do it more. I mean stuff like watching TV when you should be working, not really bad stuff like robbing a bank or something. A university did a study and found that people who don't feel guilty about, i.e. procrastination, are less likely to do it. Sounds nice... now I just have to figure how to not feel guilty about not getting my work done.
2. Write It Down ( source- my dad has entered a 'make money fast but if that doesn't work have my daughter get rich for me 'phase. Book he made me read: Rich By 22 by Tom Corson-knowles)
Before I read the book I actually looked up the author to see if he was actually rich. I'm not about to take advice from some unsuccessful person, if you know what I mean. He has his own business and started when he was 13 so he seems legit to me.
Anyways... According to this book it helps if you write down what you're going to do. Like how it feels good to check something off your To-DO list. It probably also helps you remember what you need to do.
