Recap of Naruto Chapter 437
Naruto is pinned to the ground by stakes and is unable to move. Pain denies that the world will never truly understand each other. Naruto says that one day they will after reflecting briefly on what Jiraiya had said. Pain grows bored of just talking and says that "All you can do is give me the nine-tails' fox's chakara." Hinata becomes worried and has an inner conflict. Meanwhile, Shikamaru, Ino, Ino's father, Shikamaru's father, an ANBU agent, and Shiho debate what they should do. They have the slug transfer info. Team Gai is running through the forest and Neji notices Jiriaya's frog. Meanwhile Naruto is trying to break free and continue fighting, but to no avail. Naruto's frog teacher tries to encourage Naruto to keep trying but is killed by Pain.
Pain decides it's time to go and Hinata jumps into battle. Pain dodges her attack easily. Hinata threatens Pain and Naruto tells her that it's dangerous.
Hinata states that she knows and that she's only being selfish. Naruto questions her and insists that she leaves. She states that she's helping out of her own free will and goes on to say how Naruto had inspired her. She thus confesses her love.
She goes on to attack Pain but is quickly taken out. Naruto is touched by her sacrifice and tells Pain to stop. Pain ignores him and goes with it. Naruto is angered and Pain monologues as Naruto becomes his six-tailed fox form.
