Recently, a club of our school is dubbed the Anime Club and as such we watch different types of anime while occassionaly having movie nights on Saturdays. Anyways, recently our club has discovered an anime dubbed the Count of Monte Cristo, also know a Gankutsuo. And is it fantastic!
At first, our club was a little surprised at the fact that clothing, hair, and a multitude of other things was made of patterns such as in Chowder on Cartoon Network. As a result, this anime is extremely colorful and can absolutely blow you away with the colors and multitudes of patterns. If you have never seen this anime, I would suggest watching it just for the expanse of artwork that is presented in it.
However, this is not the only surprise for those in store who pick up Gankutsuo. You are blown away by the plot, mass of characters, and how they are all interconnected. This is a MUST for any anime lover. Our club is incessantly blown away every week. We can hardly put it down. Each episode is a half hour but we spend around 2 1/2 hours each week watching this show. I think this would be interesting to those who have read the Count of Monte Crist already. My only warning to people is that it is has some sexual moments in it, which I know is already a part of anime, but some of it caused an intake of breath because we weren't expecting it. However, this is all worth it and it is completely a show worth watching. I'm half debating buying the show.
For those who have not yet discovered Gankutsuo I totally had to tell you and let you know that this show is out there. It has completely blown me away and I have watched alot of animes. Please discover it with me and let me know how you like it!
This was my first post, so please go easy on me. Comments please!
