The sun was rising. Leaf-bare was approaching, and the sky was partially covered in clouds. Nightstar was walking back into camp with a rabbit that crossed over from the ThunderClan border. She brought it over to Waterpaw, who was under some fallen leafs. She saw Nightstar and dashed over to her, happy at the sight of the the rabbit.
"Yay," Waterpaw mewed when Nightstar dropped the rabbit and began eating it.
"Come on, your prey isn't going to feed you if you just stare at it," meowed Nightstar.
After a while, there was a really loud yowl that came from RiverClan. Both the feasting cats looked up over the lake and totally forgot about their food. They listened closer. The rustling of the leaves told them that something was entering there camp. Nightstar got up and walked toward the forest. Waterpaw thought it would be better to guard camp.
In the forest over by the RiverCpan border, Nightstar could see a few cats chasing another out of there territory. She quickly jumped in a bush, not wanting the RiverClan cats to see her watching them.

Waterpaw was standing over by the camp entrance, guarding it heavily, although not very sure that she was going to be attacked. She could hear the sounds of cats getting closer to the border, and was hoping that Nightstar wasn't being attacked. All of her pondering suddenly stopped when she heard the leaves rustle again.
"Cats," she said quietly as she took a step closer to the forest. She looked around, looking for any signs of an intruder, since she can't smell anything from the strong-scented moss above her her head. All of a sudden, a bright orange color flashed out in front of her.
"Nightstar!" Waterpaw raked her claws across the intruders muzzle, silently praying to StarClan for a longer life. There standing in front of her was an angry fox.

"Lies!" Nightstar heard the one of the RiverClan cats say. The cat that they were chasing out was looking down while stepping backwards towards the ShadowClan border.
Nightstar was furious. But she knew that stepping out of the bush would've been the worst possible choice, since it would be 5 against 1.
"I-I didn't do anything," the cat meowed while taking another step back, entering ShadowClan territory. The other cats started laughing, and all but one started walking away. "You're their problem now," the cat said, then turned around and joined the others.
The cat was looking down, unsure what was going to happen next.
"Nightstar!"
Nightstar didn't care about being unseen now. She jumped out of the bush and started running towards camp. The other cat heard it as well and was not far behind Nighstar as she entered camp. Waterpaw was trying as hard as possible to stay left alone but the fox wasn't leaving her alone. Nightstar joined the little apprentice and shoved her away as soon as she saw the large splotch of blood underneath the poor cat's belly. The fox was a lot stronger than she realized and was injured real soon as well. Nightstar saw the cat from before run up and help her fight.
"What are you doing?" Nightstar spoke in a growl while being rolled over and stepped on.
The cat seemed to ignore her and said " You're injured, let me handle it."
"Never!" yowled Nightstar as she shoved the other cat out of the way and continued fighting. But Nightstar was weakening fast and couldn't keep the fight up longer before getting bitten at and injuring her back leg. The other cat couldn't keep watching this so she jumped on the fox and clawed the back of it's neck, finishing it off and giving Nightstar a well deserved break. Nightstar was about to speak, but fell back on the floor. The cat dashed over there and helped Nightstar up, and escorted her to camp. They got to the den and she let Nightstar lay down on her nest. "Thank you," meowed Nightstar and she closed her eyes.
Waterpaw walked over and layer down next to Nightstar. "I'm not gonna die, you fool," growled Nightstar. Waterpaw backed off with embarrassment and looked down, ashamed for offending her mentor.
The new cat looked at Nightstar and Waterpaw and meowed "Luckily I've had Medicine Cat training before, so I can fix you right up."
Waterpaw looked at the newcomer and meowed "Who are you?"
"I'm Turtleclaw, former deputy of RiverClan."

The Clan is Building!

Nightstar looks out into the empy field, the wind chilling her fur. A young catExternal Image jumped into the tree besides her. "Nightstar, why do I need a ceremony even though there is nobody else in the Clan anymore?"
Nighstar looked down, then took a big breath of the leaf-fall air. "If i don't give a ceremony than StarClan will not know that you are being made an apprentice". She jumped onto the next branch up. The kit underneath her jumped off the tree and ran out the where the Clan used to sit, to make Nightstar feel like she isn't going crazy."Waterkit, you have reached six moons and it is now time for you to become an apprentice."
The little gray tabby ran up to the rock where she was supposed to sit. "Waterkit, since our Clan is small, you will need to make sure that you put all of your focus into protecting our territory. From this day forward until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Waterpaw." The young cat looked up at Nightstar, who's tail flickered with joy of having a new apprentice. "Since I am the only other one in this Clan , i will take personal responsibility of being you're mentor".
The wind got so cold, Nightstar new that if they were out here any longer they would freeze to death, so made a quick ending and climbed down the tree. Waterpaw followed her to the only den left in camp. They layed down in the warmest corner that there was and quickly went to sleep.

The sun was coming up over the mountains in the far distance. The air was now warm and Nightstar woke up. She noticed that Waterpaw wasn't there, and quickly ran out of the den. She didn't have to go far to find Waterpaw walking to camp with mouse between her teeth. She saw Nightstar standing and immediately dropped the mouse. "Nightstar, I-I didn't mean to go hunting behind your back, but this mouse ran inside of our den an-"
"-It's okay, Waterpaw," meowed Nightstar with amazement. This cat hadn't even had any training and caught a mouse, she must have lucked out.
Waterpaw picked up the mouse and brought it over to Nightstar. "Here," she mewed quietly, pushing the mouse over to Nightstar with one of her front paws.
"No, you have it, you deserve it. I'll go hunting later."
Waterpaw grabbed it and took a bite out of it. after she swallowed, she asked "When are there going to be more cats in our Clan?"
That was a tough question for Nightstar. "It's hard to tell. If we are lucky, we'll have more cats here before new-leaf. And unless StarClan sends one of us a message, only time will tell. But for now, let's just work on keeping each other alive."
