The sun was rising. Leaf-bare was approaching, and the sky was partially covered in clouds. Nightstar was walking back into camp with a rabbit that crossed over from the ThunderClan border. She brought it over to Waterpaw, who was under some fallen leafs. She saw Nightstar and dashed over to her, happy at the sight of the the rabbit.
"Yay," Waterpaw mewed when Nightstar dropped the rabbit and began eating it.
"Come on, your prey isn't going to feed you if you just stare at it," meowed Nightstar.
After a while, there was a really loud yowl that came from RiverClan. Both the feasting cats looked up over the lake and totally forgot about their food. They listened closer. The rustling of the leaves told them that something was entering there camp. Nightstar got up and walked toward the forest. Waterpaw thought it would be better to guard camp.
In the forest over by the RiverCpan border, Nightstar could see a few cats chasing another out of there territory. She quickly jumped in a bush, not wanting the RiverClan cats to see her watching them.

Waterpaw was standing over by the camp entrance, guarding it heavily, although not very sure that she was going to be attacked. She could hear the sounds of cats getting closer to the border, and was hoping that Nightstar wasn't being attacked. All of her pondering suddenly stopped when she heard the leaves rustle again.
"Cats," she said quietly as she took a step closer to the forest. She looked around, looking for any signs of an intruder, since she can't smell anything from the strong-scented moss above her her head. All of a sudden, a bright orange color flashed out in front of her.
"Nightstar!" Waterpaw raked her claws across the intruders muzzle, silently praying to StarClan for a longer life. There standing in front of her was an angry fox.

"Lies!" Nightstar heard the one of the RiverClan cats say. The cat that they were chasing out was looking down while stepping backwards towards the ShadowClan border.
Nightstar was furious. But she knew that stepping out of the bush would've been the worst possible choice, since it would be 5 against 1.
"I-I didn't do anything," the cat meowed while taking another step back, entering ShadowClan territory. The other cats started laughing, and all but one started walking away. "You're their problem now," the cat said, then turned around and joined the others.
The cat was looking down, unsure what was going to happen next.
"Nightstar!"
Nightstar didn't care about being unseen now. She jumped out of the bush and started running towards camp. The other cat heard it as well and was not far behind Nighstar as she entered camp. Waterpaw was trying as hard as possible to stay left alone but the fox wasn't leaving her alone. Nightstar joined the little apprentice and shoved her away as soon as she saw the large splotch of blood underneath the poor cat's belly. The fox was a lot stronger than she realized and was injured real soon as well. Nightstar saw the cat from before run up and help her fight.
"What are you doing?" Nightstar spoke in a growl while being rolled over and stepped on.
The cat seemed to ignore her and said " You're injured, let me handle it."
"Never!" yowled Nightstar as she shoved the other cat out of the way and continued fighting. But Nightstar was weakening fast and couldn't keep the fight up longer before getting bitten at and injuring her back leg. The other cat couldn't keep watching this so she jumped on the fox and clawed the back of it's neck, finishing it off and giving Nightstar a well deserved break. Nightstar was about to speak, but fell back on the floor. The cat dashed over there and helped Nightstar up, and escorted her to camp. They got to the den and she let Nightstar lay down on her nest. "Thank you," meowed Nightstar and she closed her eyes.
Waterpaw walked over and layer down next to Nightstar. "I'm not gonna die, you fool," growled Nightstar. Waterpaw backed off with embarrassment and looked down, ashamed for offending her mentor.
The new cat looked at Nightstar and Waterpaw and meowed "Luckily I've had Medicine Cat training before, so I can fix you right up."
Waterpaw looked at the newcomer and meowed "Who are you?"
"I'm Turtleclaw, former deputy of RiverClan."
