Well, part of my favorite holiday ever was a bust. Boo. For those who don’t know me as well, I am of course talking about St. Patrick’s day! Heh, after reading John’s post, we have the same St. Patty’s day tradition, curl up with some Guinness and watch the Boondock Saints. XD
The first part of my day went fine. In clinicals we are up to the point where we make our own nursing team basically. We have a whole team of students that act as the regular floor nurses, a couple of people who pass meds all day, and then a team leader who basically acts as the resource, or charge nurse. I was the team lead on Tuesday, so whenever someone had a problem, got an abnormal vital sign, or needed help, they came to me to fix it, check it out, or whatever. So let me tell you, I was terrified going it, okay. But I was very happy the day went smoothly. I got to follow the real charge nurse on duty around all morning and help her do her rounds. She showed me a lot. And a couple of the times when the other students came to me with a problem, she was there and went with me to check it out. So yeah, awesome.
As for the rest of the day, it sucked. I had a headache by the time I left there. I think it was a combination of stress and heat. Holy hell, it was like 100 degrees on that floor. Then I just couldn’t get rid of it all evening. So after I did all my paperwork the team lead has to do and typed up my paper, I was just too miserable to celebrate the holiday, bust. But at least I made it through the team lead smoothly.
I’ll be passing meds all this week as part of the team, so now I’m just hoping I don’t med error someone and give them the wrong stuff. o_O
