stuck in a moment

Hello ya'll. It's been awhile, right? Haha.

Anyways, I'll just give one long post about a story that happened on Christmas Eve, leading into my Christmas Day. Please read it. I promise it may be worth your time.

On Christmas Eve day, I spent about 10+ hours fixing my co-worker's laptop. I was pissed off because he wanted to give me only 15 dollars for a job that wasted my entire day. I HATE people who don't appreciate the work you do. He thought that it was bull to be charged 30 dollars for a complete overhaul on his laptop. I had to reinstall Windows Vista with drivers because his problem was too severe for me to handle with simple fixes (His laptop would always get a blue screen of death every 5 minutes).

So I managed to fix his laptop and went out to deliver it to him on Christmas Eve because the next day is Christmas. So I arrived, remembering him telling me to call him when I got there. Turns out that I left my cell phone at home because it wasn't in the car. So I tried everything I could to contact the household that he lived on through the internet, but it was impossible. If I tried ringing the doorbell at 11 PM, I would probably be ringing the wrong doorbell because 2-3 families live there.

I left my hazards and lights on, not knowing that I would be there for close to an hour. That's a lesson learned to anyone who's still relatively new to how the car works: Don't leave your hazards for more than 10 minutes. It will drain your battery life. So, my dashboard rebooted and asked for me to input a code that I haven't inputted in years (I totally forgot it). Eventually my co-worker walked outside and realized I was there.

Talk about embarrassment, I had to borrow the guy's cell phone in order to contact someone who knew my brother or sister's cell phone number because nobody at home would pick up the home line at midnight and there was no way I would remember all their cell phone numbers. Eventually, I managed to call my sister's cell phone, which my brother picked up (unsurprisingly). I asked him to find the owner's manual in my closet to find a 5 number password. After 30 minutes talking to him, I realized that the 5 digit password was on this small sticker in my glove compartment. So I ended the call and he was relieved.

In my excitement, I put the code in and the dashboard was unlocked! I remembered that my co-worker had to give me the money, so I asked him where it was. He said he remembered handing the money to me, but it was nowhere to be found. It wasn't in my pocket and I don't remember putting my wallet outside. I tried looking for it and he seemed to be looking for it. So eventually he left, saying that the 20 dollars was there in my car somewhere. He went back into his house with his cellphone. I didn't believe him.

So yeah, my dashboard works and I was glad, but did my engine have enough power to start up my engine? NO! There wasn't enough power, so I was inevitably stuck there. There was no way that my co-worker would magically check up on me outside to let me borrow his phone and there was no way that I would ring the doorbell to annoy these people at 12-1 in the morning. Just know that I had no idea what the exact time was.

I had no other option, but to run to the coffee shop where I worked. I think the distance was about a half of a mile and it was miserably cold outside. Keep in mind that I wasn't in clothes that I would normally go out in because I didn't forsee my car's battery dying out of nowhere. Somewhat tired and freezing, I arrived at my job and asked to borrow my coworker's cell phone. She knew my brother's cell phone, so I asked her to keep calling him. Eventually he picked up and I got a ride back home after waiting for 30 minutes.

Anyways, I got home and took off my first coat layer which I usually wear on cold nights (It looks like a peacoat). I was wearing a hoodie underneath, not realizing that there were pockets there. I remembered that I left my cell phone in my room, so I looked around for it. Well I put my hand in the pocket of the hoodie I was wearing and there you go. My cell phone (On silent) was in my hoodie's pocket that I wore underneath my peacoat the whole time.

I feel as if I've seen this happen on a television show before.

After a couple of hours, I went with my father to jump start my car. We got my car to start up and I drove back home, happy that my car is working again. I got home and parked the car in my usual parking space. I forgot that my co-worker somehow misplaced the 20 dollar bill in my car. So, I looked around again, doing a really thorough search. I eventually found the money he left, but it was only 1 dollar.

I'll talk about my Christmas tomorrow! Have a good one.
