New Years

Good evening everyone! This will be the last post for year, although I'm sure theOtaku will mark it as a post on January 1, 2009, haha.

Even though 2008 wasn't that great of a year for me, we all made it through to the very end! Even though you may say it's just another day, another year, another calendar to recycle, I get very sentimental and inspired by the changing of times.

We all don't live under the same circumstances, but I believe that we should live the new year as if it were our last. We have the chance to start anew to improve on the failures and successes of the previous year, working on a clean slate with an old foundation so to speak.

It's a new year to try new things, to be more involving, to have more exposure out there in the world, to be more honest, etc… We have all these things that we can do to improve ourselves as individuals.

For me, the most important things I've learned in 2008 we're the four agreements, as seen in Don Miguel Ruiz's book, The Four Agreements:

1. Be impeccable with your word.
2. Don’t take anything personally.
3. Don’t make assumptions.
4. Do your best.

My strongest resolution for the new year is to live by these four agreements. As every year passes, I want to do my best to be a better person to myself and towards the people I encounter everyday.

I could keep going on, but I just want to put out one thing…

Your own identity and personality are the most important traits that define your individuality as a human. Cherish your passions, hobbies, and strengths… Don't let the shadow of conformity blanket your thoughts and actions. There will be people who will appreciate what you do and who you really are. Trust me on that note.

Well, I'm sure most of you are tired of my lame counseling session! This seriously should be a Sherlife post, but nah.

I hope that you guys have a great 2009.
Make it through the very end and keep fighting.

Sincerely,
Harvey

Last question of the year that you don't have to answer if it's too personal!:
What are your resolutions for the new year and how do you plan on living them to the fullest?
