Toma slowly opened her eyes. Every thing was blurry.
"Where.... am I?" Toma muttered.
"Toma-san!" Kikyo's face appeared above Toma's.
"Kikyo-san," Toma said,paniced, "Are you all-" Pain suddenly surged through Toma. Her body refused to move.
"Calm down," Kikyo said calmly, "You are very injured."
Toma heard the sound off swords clanging.
"Where's Rai?" she asked.
Kikyo remained silent.
"Kikyo," Toma asked agian. "What happened to Rai?"
"We're to late," Kikyo whispered.
Toma forced her body to move.
She saw Hisa fighting. Hadachi. And...
"Rai!" Toma screamed.
The thing that was once Rai seemed no longer like him. His nice, gentle eyes were now filled with evil. His look of hapiness was now a look of crazed insanity.
Toma tried to stand up.
"Toma, stop," Kikyo said, "going out there in your condition is suicide-"
"Kikyo," Toma interupted, "Is it insane to save a friend?"
"Huh? You can't, you'll die..."
"Kikyo, if I die, can you tell Byakuya I'm sorry, and Rukia that I'll see her agian in a different life."
"Toma, stop-"
"Let the earth and mist push the limits, Kyubi no Harusame!"

I know it sounds like Toma's going to die. It is not intended!
