My Week in Anime #6
Another week, another round of anime. Let's do this!! Anime discussed: Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka, Chaos;Head, Clannad ~After Story~, Code Geass R2, Kannagi, Kyo no Gononi, Library War...Them's Fightin' Words
My family has a tradition -- each Christmas, after the morning festivities, we see a movie. This tradition has become a bit more special each year, since we don't go to the movies as much (combination of my parents having to work more, and a family outing at the movies being way more expensive than it should be).
Slight problem this year, though. No matter how much my sister and I pore through all the movies that would conceivably be in a nearby theater come Christmas time, we cannot see any movie that everyone in our family would agree upon and be happy with. There are a ton of movies my sister and I (and to a lesser extent, our mom) would be interested in watching, but a lot of those are getting limited releases, or are coming out in Los Angeles and New York only for a couple of weeks, so there's no guarantee any of 'em would be showing in a local theater.
Aside from that, though, there is obviously the issue of competing tastes. My dad, for example, likes to stick with mainstream movies -- nothin' wrong with that at all, of course, since it's what he's comfortable with and likes watching. My brother is mostly like that, too, although he parts with my dad in a few ways (he likes musicals -- my sister's influence, haha, although I enjoy my fair share of 'em -- and he is an unashamed fan of goofy ass movies, whereas my dad likes to pretend he is above them :P). Obviously their thinking has to be reconciled with everyone else's, including my own; as much as I like my taste in movies, it's not the end all be all, of course.
Usually we're pretty good about compromising, because 1) There are normally at least one or two good, family-friendly movies ready to be watched, and 2) My dad pays for this, after all, so he is good about negotiating compromise, haha. But, yeah, don't know if it'll happen this year -- don't really see that one good movie that'll draw the family together. Closest I can think of is Nothing Like the Holidays, but it is receiving mixed reviews and does not seem like the kind of thing my dad would be into. Who knows, though?
Ah, well. We'll figure something out, hopefully. Last year we split up for the first time ever -- my siblings and I saw Sweeney Todd, while my parents watched National Treasure 2. I liked the movie, but it just didn't feel right without the family together, you know?
Epic Romance
Be sure to read the Chatlogs of Doom for an extra special theOtaku tale of shoujo romance! It took forever for me to format the darn thing, but it's way more readable that way, so it's worth it. Plus, I needed something to kill time while torrenting the second season of Gundam 00 ...
Speaking of Gundam 00, if there is one thing it has reinforced, it is that I will, without fail, fall for the beautiful, hardass woman who takes boys and turns them into men.
Latest example of this: Kati Manequin, a colonel in the AEU. Moar Kati. Just a bit moar. One last shot.
Jeez. Glasses + random mole + purple hair + military suit + tough attitude = <3. I could see destiny unfolding in front of my eyes when she first appeared and punched out Patrick (I would totally be the Patrick in this situation, btw). There's nothing for me to do but let love sweep me away.
