Merry Christmas, and have a wonderful day, everyone! I'm off to see Sherlock Holmes with the family after opening presents~

EDIT: Back from Sherlock Holmes (OK, not great, but Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law make it enjoyable), and going off to work in a few minutes, but here's my Christmas haul:

-- Pokemon Platinum (from my sister~)
-- a bunch of nice clothes
-- District 9
-- Slayers boxset
-- Gankutsuou boxset
-- The Jordan Rules by Sam Smith
-- The Breaks of the Game by David Halberstam
-- When the Game Was Ours by Larry Bird and Magic Johnson
-- Under the Dome by Stephen King

Lots of reading material for me!

Just in time for the holidays . . .

So I cannot completely verify this right now, but I'm pretty sure I am the victim of credit card fraud, or something similar.

Of course I panicked upon receiving a notice from a debt collection agency saying I owe a bit more than $2200, but my dad was able to help me calm down a bit and think the whole thing through rationally. I'm getting a credit report mailed to me, and I also contacted the debt agency requesting specifics on the actual source of the debt, since the letter they sent me was embarrassingly vague. The only clue I have is the apparent source of the complaint, a "Pama Management", which is as far as I can tell is a real estate company in El Monte. I'm a cheap ass 24-year-old; what the hell do I have to do with real estate?

There were other oddities with the letter as well. For one, there is another person listed in the letter, whom I assume is another person who owes the debt ... except I have no idea who she is, and yet the debt collection agency lists my name on top of hers, and then my address, as if we live in the same home together. My middle initial is also listed incorrectly in the letter not once but twice. It could be a simple mistake by itself, but along with everything else, it is just raising too many red flags for me.

So yeah. Hopefully I'll be able to get this sorted out without too much trouble. If anyone has dealt with a similar situation in the past, or knows anyone who has, then advice would be appreciated. Having to pay for this thievery would be a pretty fucking huge blow to me. =/

EDIT: Also forgot to add that the weirdness with my altered name and this nonexistent person living in my home makes me think someone got some information somehow (maybe from a receipt I threw away) and set up a fraudulent credit card account based on that, because I actually do not have a credit card myself -- I just use my debit card, and I certainly have not bought anything at anywhere near the price of this debt. My laptop was the most expensive thing I've bought in the past couple of years, and that was $1000 with the three-year warranty.

Anyway, the lesson is hoard all receipts and similar items like you are Scrooge McDuck. If you have a safe full of receipts you can jump into and swim in, then all the better.

And if there's no news, I'll go out and bite a dog.

I'll try to keep this relatively short since I am so sick that I can barely concentrate right now. lol Ace in the Hole (1951): It baffles me why Billy Wilder has...

Colds and Ziggy

I'm sick again. Damn it. Last night I didn't sleep well, either, so I was a bit weaker than normal throughout the day, and of course today there were a lot of pages to put together and a lot of bizarre layouts to think through. Someone must be cackling right now.

Probably way late to the party on this, but I've been reading the Comics Curmudgeon lately, especially his Ziggy archives. Ziggy is already funny as hell by virtue of being both absurdly depressing and possibly the most unfunny thing on the planet, but the Curmudgeon's commentary takes it to a whole new level of hilarity. My favorite so far is this one (I can't stop laughing at the very thought of a "Ziggy Hitler"), with this one close behind. This is likely a Ziggy-ish thought, but these comics were the lone bright spot of the day.

... Aside from the Christmas card/drawing Laura sent me, of course! Loved it! :D
