Sorry for the post spam today, but this was so amusing that I had to share it.
Today has been a pretty hellish day in the news room -- there are an ungodly amount of people out sick or on vacation, so the staff is stretched quite thin, both among the reporters and the editorial desk. We have been overworked like crazy today, which is how this gem of a headline -- from a story about the planned funeral for a woman who died in a car crash -- almost made it online (I noticed it in time because the Web headlines are listed with the stories we edit):
"Woman killed in Monterey Park crash laid"
... Yeah, that might have been a tad offensive (and a bit embarrassing for us!) had that actually made it through. At least it cleared the tension in here!
