Futurama + Anime Expo

So the new season of Futurama debuted on Comedy Central last night! Had fun watching it with Kei, 'Gome and another person whose name I cannot recall off the top of my head. Argh. Couple of solid episodes; nothing spectacular, but I enjoyed them.

The first was just a really fun way to fling Futurama back into the TV world and resolve the ending of Into the Wild Green Yonder in a typical Futurama WTF manner. The second episode was a bit less enjoyable, just because the plot seemed a bit static after the halfway point, but I did enjoy the minutes-long gag of Leela wringing every excruciating confession out of Zapp lol.

Good times, I say. I'm sure Futurama will heat up pretty soon, so for now I'm just glad to see it on TV again!

In other news, Anime Expo is next week! And holy crap is my schedule ever packed to the gills with things to do. I haven't even planned any sort of formal theO meet-up because I know I'm going to be so damn busy my one day of attendance. (No license + car yet, though I am working toward that goal; if I don't have one by next year, then I officially fail at life.) I have been talking with Michi, however, so hopefully we'll be able to cobble together an informal meeting.

Already planning on meeting some other friends, and I'll also be seeing someone I haven't met since we both graduated high school. We're talking ancient history here. Good times.

I don't usually go to too many panels at AX, because a lot of them normally aren't that interesting to me (seems like other cons have cooler panels), but I'll be hitting the Toradora! panel in the morning (I think Yui Horie and Eri Kitamura are supposed to be there, and I hope there will be some tickets for their autograph session later in the day), the premiere of the Black Lagoon OVA after that and then I'll haul ass to the exhibit hall for the autograph session. So much running!

Not really sure how bad the lines will be ... AX's schedule indicates Horie, Kitamura, Kyle Hebert and Shinichi Watanabe (aka Nabeshin) will be giving out autographs at around the same time, so hopefully the latter two will dilute the autograph lines a bit. :p Cross your fingers, Des -- I'll do everything I can to get you something, too!

So, yeah, I'm hoping this will be my best Anime Expo yet. AX '06 still holds that title (last year in Anaheim; met Shy, Panda and Solo Tremaine; good times all around), but this year's con seems as if it will be great. Kind of ironic considering all the drama behind the scenes at AX that has unfolded for the past year.
