Every so often I get the desire to watch a straight up dumb show loaded with the very worst pandering anime has to offer. I don't know why; it's probably because anime has long ago captured me in its dark clutches, and unless I watch, say, Kampfer, then I will be sacrificed to the fanservice gods.
It's with that in mind that I took on this season's High School of the Dead. The manga's reputation had not escaped me; I knew it was just as much -- if not more -- about skeevy fanservice as it is about killing zombies and giving homage to great horror movies. But, hey, zombie violence and completely ridiculous fanservice could at least provide some dumb fun, right? That's how it has been for the most part.
As the episodes have gone by, though, the story has upped the ante on the fanservice, and every time I think it can get any crazier, the show has proved me wrong. The above video is the latest example. I don't even know if that can be called "fanservice" anymore. It has entered into some insane null zone where all semblance of logic has disappeared, leaving behind bullet time panties and rippling breasts. I think the Madhouse guys just got tired of the onslaught of fanservice and just decided to package it in the most ridiculous fashion possible. I'm almost afraid of what will come next.
(I shouldn't have to point this out, but just in case: Yes, this video is utterly NSFW. Not just "not safe for work", but probably "not safe for watching" as well.)
