CHIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEF

Had a blast watching One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest -- this movie watching group has been as much fun as I hoped it would be, and more. You all are great fun. :)

Anyway, seeing as the meeting is over, it's time to be super efficient and choose the next movie to watch! Here are the next five nominees:

(Also, I'm pretty sure the next meeting will still be next Tuesday, but my work schedule hadn't been updated before I last went to work, so I'll find out for sure tomorrow.)

1. To Kill a Mockingbird (1962): Scout and Jem Finch are like any other kids; they live in a small town -- Maycomb, Alabama -- under the care of their father, Atticus, a lawyer. But their innocent times will come to an end shortly as they face the realities of prejudice and racism when Atticus accepts the case of Tom Robinson, accused of raping a white woman. Directed by Robert Mulligan, starring Gregory Peck, Mary Badham and Philip Alford.

2. Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959): One day the dead begin coming back to life as part of an alien plot to conquer the Earth. Inspector Daniel Clay is the only one who stands in their way. Directed by Ed Wood, starring Tor Johnson, Dudley Manlove and Gregory Walcott.

3. Harold and Maude (1971): Harold Chasen is obsessed with death. He sets up elaborate fake suicides, goes to funerals and drives a hearse, all to piss off his socialite mother. But he remains bored with life until he meets 79-year-old Maude at a funeral; he is immediately drawn to her strange way of looking at and living life. Slowly Harold learns how to make the most of his time on Earth. Directed by Hal Ashby, starring Bud Cort and Ruth Gordon.

4. Blazing Saddles (1974): Satirical western comedy about a black sheriff, Bart, who along with a drunken gunslinger, defends the town of Rock Ridge against State Attorney General Hedley Lamarr, who wants to buy the town's land so that he can complete his railroad. Also, the fourth wall is exploded into tiny little pieces. Directed by Mel Brooks, starring Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder.

5. Cool Hand Luke (1967): Luke Jackson is a restless man who is arrested for cutting the heads off a few parking meters after downing a few too many drinks. He's sentenced to two years in prison and is sentenced to a Georgia prison camp, where the Captain attempts to wear him down both physically and mentally. But Luke refuses to bow to the system and flouts the Captain's authority at every turn, even as the punishment he endures grows ever more harsh. Directed by Stuart Rosenberg, starring Paul Newman and Strother Martin.
