Ah, VVVVVV. Several people actively questioned my sanity in choosing to play you, but while you were frustrating, you were also fun. I may even one day revisit you to play what will surely be mind-numbingly difficult player-created levels! But that is an adventure for another day ...
But, yeah, VVVVVV is in the sweet spot for frustrating fun in my mind. The controls are a bit floaty, yeah, but the game's mechanics are forgiving enough that it doesn't become too much of an issue. As long as you put the time into it, you can beat any part of the game, which is all anyone can ask from a game of this sort.
I think all the funniest parts of of my VVVVVV playthrough are the bits where I would rush into a room and yelp "OH SHIT/CRAP/DAMN IT" because the structure of the room surprised me and made me die in 0.00000001 seconds.
(Catch the VVVVVV finale here!)
I thought about starting a new game this week, but not beating DuckTales is bugging the shit out of me, so I'm going back to that! This time Scrooge McDuck will get all the treasure. Oh yes.
Requisite bump to come Friday!
EDIT: Tonight is the night I beat DuckTales! Believe it! If I actually finish early, I might play a couple of the player-created levels in VVVVVV. I've tried a few already, and some of them are quite devious!
