My Faith in Government is Finally Crushed

Yes. I did not have much remaining, but it has finally been snuffed out.

Just now I was wrapping up my final research on candidates, issues, etc. so that I would know for sure who and what my vote would support come Nov. 4. The final race I researched was for my district's House representative between the incumbent, Rep. Grace Napolitano, and Christopher Agrella, a Libertarian.

My first thought was, "Hey, wow, a Libertarian is running!" Now, I am not someone who votes blindly based on party, but Agrella's identification as a Libertarian meant I would probably agree with him on more issues than I would with Napolitano. After visiting Napolitano's Web site, it became clear to me that we just do not see eye to eye on most issues -- not at all unexpected.

Then I went to Agrella's Web site, hoping to finally find someone to represent me who would actually (gasp!) represent my views. Well, I rummaged through the site, and there was no end to the depths which my heart sank. True, I agreed with Agrella on many (though not all) issues, but ... well, look at that Web site!

I crapped out a dinky Freewebs page my junior year of high school that was better than that. Of course, I would have breathed a sigh of relief if that was the only trouble, but no. That was just the beginning of the horror.

First of all, just look at the guy. Yes, of course, politics should definitely be more about the issues than presentation and appearance ... but would any of you seriously feel comfortable being represented by this guy?? He basically writes, "YO I TYPES IN ALL CAPS CAUSE I FEEL LIKE IT FOOLS AND AIN'T NONE OF YOU GON' STOP ME PEACE OUT BITCHES WORD" My God, voting for him would be like sending a Narutard to Congress.

Then there are his position pages (more of which are on his site), which are maybe 5 percent solid policy and 95 percent stereotypical raving Libertarian "ZOMG I GET A HARD ON WHEN I WRITE ABOUT KILLING THE GOVERNMENT LOL" gibberish. I dislike the government as much as any other American, but Jesus. Tone it down a bit, buddy. Howard Beale was less uptight than this guy.

Is this really a serious candidate or just some sick joke played on California to see if we will elect any asshat who steps up to the plate? Hell, we already elected the Terminator, so we might as well keep the train moving! Who needs silly things like spelling, grammar or the ability to string words together to form lucid sentences? Not California, that's for sure! AGRELLA '08~

This seriously made Nov. 4 about 10 times more depressing for me. My choice of Congressional representative is between a person I heavily disagree with and a person who probably took his formative English classes on AOL in the late 1990s and who is also the perfect example of the stereotypical Libertarian psycho extremist. I am half convinced this is a conspiracy launched by Congress and the presidency to make me hate America. There is no other reasonable explanation for this.

Remember, kids -- ROCK THE VOTE. Your voice matters!!
