U.N.D.E.R.C.O.V.E.R

It was a rainy Monday morning, and this first rank detective did NOT want to get up. If it’s raining, especially on a Monday, he just wanted to lay in bed and avoid the rest of the day. But, just like every other middleman, he got up, and made his way to the kitchen to start his coffee. But before he even made it there, his watch went off, with it’s irritable beeping sound. He rolled my eyes, and answered the call.
“Yes sir.” he responded.
“There has been a change in your work schedule today, Mr. Silver.” he shook his head and went to start the coffee maker.
“What must I do now?” he asked, trying not to sound cranky, but hey; it was Monday.
“As you were scheduled, you were supposed to come to the office and sort your paperwork from your past reviews of the training program. But today I have something a little more complex in store for you.” he batted his eyes and stepped away from his coffee maker. Did he say ‘complex’? This was his moment! His chance to shine! Maybe if he didn’t screw this up, he could move up in the ranks.
“Tell me what to do, Boss Man.” He tried not to sound excited, but it was hard not to. Seemed to him like this Monday got a tad bit better.
“I want you to go to that vegetarian coffee shop down the road. I’ll send you the address. You’re mission; there is a culprit that will be there, supposedly there to hide drugs in the coffee, even the food. I need you to find out who it is. The drugs aren’t supposed to go into effect until around4, so that gives you a couple of hours. Think you can do it?” He was smiling, and was already getting his clothes on.
“Yes sir!!” He made his way out the door, and ended the call on his watch. He looked down and the coordinates of his destination were there, and headed that way.
He walked into the shop, still a little weary, but made his way to a comfortable looking booth, and sat there. A waitress came to him, holding a notepad, smiling at him.
“Hello, I’m Tonya, and I’ll be your waitress today. What would you like to drink?” He smiled back at her. She seemed like a sweet girl, short blonde hair, pearly white teeth, about 5’4. “I’ll just have a coffee, black.” She wrote down on her notepad, and said thank you, walking away. He Looked around, trying to get an idea move of this coffee shop. It was actually pretty packed, to his surprise. People chattering amongst themselves, walking around, laughter, and a lot of energy. He had his hands comfortably resting on his chin, and the waitress returned with his coffee.
“Have you decided on your order sir?” He couldn’t stop looking at the man in a trench coat in the corner, reading a newspaper and smoking a cigar. Something kept luring his attention over to the individual, and he didn’t know what.
“Sir?” He shook his head, and looked up at her.
“I’m sorry… I don’t want anything else right now, thank you.” As he raised his mug to his lips, feeling the steam of the coffee hit his face, the man in the trench coat got up, and pulled out a gun, and The detective saw his opportunity. He grabbed the waitress’s arm and said “I change my mind, I want a grilled cheese!”
