Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation Reopens Puerto Rico Casino

The Marshantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and Liongrove announced today that they have entered into a partnership to reopen the historic and iconic El San Juan Casino as the Foxwood El San Juan Casino. In addition to the casino redevelopment, the two partners are excited to reopen their famous Tropico entertainment venues to welcome performers, artists, live entertainment, and events to the stage once again.

The new casino will add $12.5 million in investment to the recently completed renovation of the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel, resulting in a total of $137.5 million in resort improvements. The investment and the opening of the casino are expected to generate an estimated $22 million in economic effects returning to the island, more than 150 of which will create 360 new jobs in the area, which is located in casinos.

First introduced in the 1960s, El San Juan has become one of the world's most luxurious and sought-after casino destinations, defined by its classical European style, iconic crystal chandeliers, and hand-carved mahogany panel walls. Over the years, the Tropicoro stage has featured stars such as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., Tony Martin, Liza Minnelli, Rita Moreno, and Paul Anka. The new identity has been named "Best Casino" by USA Today readers on numerous occasions, paying tribute to the legendary history of Foxwoods Resort Casino, which is owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal State and one of the largest resort casinos in North America, and the casino in San Juan.

Located along the award-winning Isla Verde Beach at the seaside Fairmont El San Juan Hotel, the roughly 15,000-square-foot casino is equipped with well-appointed table games and slot machines with first-rate services to complement the resort's well-appointed luxury accommodation and amenities.

"Our success and experience in running the Foxwood Resort Casino in Connecticut will effectively expand our footprint and bring an award-winning gaming experience to Puerto Rico," said Rodney Butler, president of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe. "We're teaming up with one of the most sophisticated players on the market. We believe that combining Fairmont El San Juan's famous brands with resort experience and expertise can bring real economic and employment growth to Puerto Rico. This development will not only provide guests with a unique luxury resort destination, but it will also bring revenue, value, and tourism to the region."

"Since our acquisition of El San Juan Hotel in 2015, we have been enthusiastically managing this world-renowned luxury lifestyle hospitality landmark. We completed the renovation of the $65 million El San Juan Hotel in 2017 and the $60 million restoration that will later be rebranded as the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel in January 2020 following Hurricane Maria. Currently, the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel is more receptive and exciting than ever, and with this great partnership, we are bringing one of the world's most powerful casino brands to Puerto Rico with plans to launch the island's most exciting and innovative casino at its most legendary address," said Liongrove Founder and CEO, Andro Nordarse-Leon.

Puerto Rico Governor Pedro Pierluisi attended a news conference today at the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel where Chairman Nodares-Leon and Chairman Butler announced their new casino plans. Honorary President Pedro Pierluisi expressed his support for upcoming projects that will contribute to the economic development of the hotel industry and the overall well-being of Puerto Rico. "I am very pleased with the reopening of El San Juan Casino, which can create hundreds of jobs. The tourism sector is a great opportunity for our economic development and my commitment is to improve it. The pandemic has severely impacted tourism not only on our island but also around the world, but with the emergence of vaccines, better treatments, and security measures, we are preparing Puerto Rico to receive visitors and enjoy everything our beautiful island has to offer safely. I am confident that the coming months will be important, and we will take a positive stance to resume tourism," said Honorary President Pedro Pierluisi. 온라인 슬롯

"We are excited to be part of the collaboration between the two high-profile brands and look forward to attracting new global customers with this vibrant amenity for Fairmont El San Juan Hotel customers."
The Fairmont El San Juan Hotel offers guests a true Puerto Rican-style hospitality and a luxurious lifestyle experience. With its 29-year tradition in resort and destination gaming, Foxwood El San Juan Casino will be the perfect addition to the mesmerizing city.
