Cayuga Casino Opened in 2005

The preliminary construction of the $500 million Cayuga Nation casino on the Monte Carlo Raceway will begin in June with plans to open its gaming facilities by spring 2005, the tribe's venture partner said on April 25.

"We're planning an aggressive construction schedule and we're planning to set up and build," said Charles Degliomini, vice president of communications at Empire Resorts Inc., a former Alpha Hospitality.

Building a 600,000-square-foot casino on 30 acres adjacent to the racetrack hinges on a partnership with federal and state approval for the project. Degliomini said the Empire Resort recently signed a seven-year contract with Cayuga for casino management. In return, he said, the tribe will receive up to 300,000 Empire shares over a 12-month period. As of Friday's close, that would be worth $2.79 million. He said that Empire initially gave Cayuga 100,000 shares to sign a management contract. He said the shares were issued to allow Cayuga to build one or more hotels to supplement casinos on taxable properties off the racetrack site. Under the deal, Cayuga could become a third owner of the hotel. 바다이야기

The Cayuga Tribe, which recently blamed tribal traditions for voting to enter gambling, has no sanctuary. They are one of two Indian tribes that jointly won a $247.9 million ruling against the state for illegally taking 64,027 acres of former reserves in Cayuga and Seneca County about 200 years ago. The other tribe on the land claim, Seneca-Cayuga of Oklahoma, is taking steps to build a large bingo hall in western Cayuga County.
