Welcome to my world.

I'm SomeGuy, 29 years old, residing in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I've studied English Literature, Chinese Martial Arts, and am currently pursuing careers in writing - possibly even in the anime industry itself.

And I work for this site.

And you should be watching Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad.
Or watching Ranma 1/2.
Or learning about the Shinsengumi.
Or planning to visit Vancouver, The Best Place On Earth (actual marketing motto).

Here at the "Smallville" page, I have my personal blog where I'll post about anything and everything. If ya need me or otherwise need to know anything from/about me, here's where I'll be.

If you're really looking for my more professional, site-type stuff, you wanna head over my "Metropolis" world.

Testing . . .

Just testing the image embedding stuff for a bit:

Thank you for your patience. And now, really cute cosplayers:

Old love rekindled . . .

Yesterday was kinda boring. Lots of laundry, internet-related homework . . . oh, I did get a look at Stephen Chow's "CJ7", though! It's very much focused on the kid and the alien not him, but that's fine - it was very cute, in any case. Dog lovers, I think you'll love this movie.

Later in the day I ended up thinking about that new Star Wars game that's in the works right now, "The Force Unleashed" . . . and then suddenly I got really excited . . .

"Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" is like, the new big multimedia project coming out of Star Wars next. It's kinda like what "Shadows of the Empire" was like back in the '90s - y'know, novel, comics, video games . . . everything. This new thing takes place between Episodes 3 and 4 and is about Darth Vader's "secret apprentice". Anyway, the big main thing sounds like the video game.

And I gotta tell ya, this game looks like it's gonna be the next "THE Star Wars game" after "Knights of the Old Republic" and "Jedi Outcast".

Seriously, everything about this game is looking good. The characters are all being modeled and animated off the actors; the story is sounding really good and is including a lot of feedback from Lucas (the original source material); the physics are looking ridiculously awesome . . . and in the first intro level you get to play as Darth Vader and Force-choke Wookiees.

Here's one of the web documentaries about the physics of the game:

And that's just the physics that games are now up to. Aside from that, according to the development team, the premise of the game is "kicking someone's ass with the Force."

Like, seriously, it'll take a LOT of effort to screw this one up.

Have I caught anyone's curiosity yet? Here, have a link to more videos and infos and stuff:

Damn I love Star Wars . . .

People not following rules . . . grr . . .

First night back from house-sitting. My clothes will smell less like beagle now. Anyway, turns out I didn't break my brother's computer after all - it was already broken and I just didn't know the trick to making it work again (in this case, unplugging the keyboard, re-plugging, then "pressing F1 to continue"). So yeah, just as they got home I deleted Live Messenger and Firefox to hide the evidence and whatnot - all is well on their end now.

So . . . heck, a lotta people still aren't quite getting how Fan Word submissions work. I'm still getting a lot of single-chapters to stories, tons of personal blogs - the other night I even PMed two specific repeat-offenders to ask them to stop . . . I still think the system's a good one, but we just need to get more education out there. I mean, I'd hate to think I'll at some point in time I'll hafta write up an all-purpose PM of "You're doin' it wrong, read the rules!" to send out to people every time they don't do this right - mostly I just don't wanna hafta send out so many PMs every day. So I dunno, we'll see . . .

Other than that, I need this:

('Cause I got a Shinsengumi Rock Band party comin' up next weekend!)

Just poppin' in . . .

Since Des' asked: in the past, the dog has pooped in the hallway and outside my stepdad's office. So I'm wary of his barks now. Thus far we've kept it outside on the lawn like he's supposed to, though, so yay.

Today's the last day of house/dog-sitting for my brother. This is good, 'cause I crapped out his computer the other night. Now, technically it's totally not my fault that the Primary Slave drive is dying now and I can't really reboot anymore . . . honestly, I had a feeling that he probably had a ton of spyware on the machine as well, so y'know . . . still, though, it sucks to have these sorts of things happen on your watch.

Over the past week I watched all of Gunbuster and Gunbuster 2. Great shows, loved 'em both. OP to Gunbuster 2's stuck in my head now. I'm also totally stoked that I didn't have to buy these DVDs (thanks again Gail!), 'cause well . . . y'know, Bandai Visual-type prices and content and all . . . still, excellent series.

The Shinsengumi are all over theOtaku now and that excites me. We've got Schultzie's Shinsengumi HQ on one end with all kinds of fun potential and I can't wait to flood that badboy with all kinds of Bakumatsu goodness. On the other end, we have the OSCgumi, the Vancouver Shinsengumi Cosplay Group, who I convinced to set up a World here at theO - that one's gonn' be fun to mess around with as well . . . I mean, we freakin' have business cards and postcards in the work now!

What else, what else . . . a couple nights ago a bunch of theO staff had a Skype meeting. That was fairly productive and mostly fun. I imagine it'll get more productive with a couple more computer mics, though. So it's all good. 'Cause really, any chance to re-promote "World War Z" to people is always good.

"C.H.U.D." is an amazingly bad movie that I'm glad I watched.

That is all.

So far so good . . .

House is doing fine, I stocked up on some foodstuffs when I went home for dinner last night . . . and the dog hasn't pooped on anything he isn't supposed to poop on yet.

So yay.

I'm exhausted now, though. Which is retarded, 'cause literally all I did yesterday was chat online, go for a walk, and drive home for dinner.

Ah well . . . on the plus side, we have a brand new "Shinsengumi" World at theO as well as definite interest for creating an account/world for the Vancouver Shinsengumi Cosplay Group. So I'm excited.

If only registering new accounts wasn't slightly broken right now . . . hmm . . .

Today'll be fun, though. Things to do . . .
