I'm SomeGuy, 29 years old, residing in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I've studied English Literature, Chinese Martial Arts, and am currently pursuing careers in writing - possibly even in the anime industry itself.
And I work for this site.
And you should be watching Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad.
Or watching Ranma 1/2.
Or learning about the Shinsengumi.
Or planning to visit Vancouver, The Best Place On Earth (actual marketing motto).
Here at the "Smallville" page, I have my personal blog where I'll post about anything and everything. If ya need me or otherwise need to know anything from/about me, here's where I'll be.
If you're really looking for my more professional, site-type stuff, you wanna head over my "Metropolis" world.

. . . was really, really, really good. I am super impressed.
A shame I missed it in 3D; bet it would've been really good too.
Only other thought about this . . . Dreamworks' CG animation is coming along really nicely. After this and Kung-Fu Panda the other year, I feel like they've finally kinda found their stride where they can tell an enjoyable, mature story that's good for the sake of good without needing to rely on gimmicks or under-the-radar jokes for parents. You don't have to be ballsy or edgy to show how you can stand up to Pixar. You just have to have the guts to tell the story that needs to be told.
Finished reading Heat Wave by "Richard Castle" tonight. I know the fun of mystery novels is that the reader is constantly trying to figure everything out before the end of the book. Well, I didn't quite get there, but that's fine. Mostly I just love thinking about how all the sex and kisses in the book reflect the "author" who couldn't get it from his "real inspiration". Oh Castle, you sly ghost-written bastard . . .
Now I shall have to read Naked Heat whenever it is that I can.
In other news, I ended up getting Matthew a book about "The A to Z of Hockey" (y'know, "D is for Defensemen..." kinda stuff), and a little hoodie that says "Lock Up Your Daughters" on the front - allegedly he's a bit of a skirt chaser at daycare. Should be good for laughs.
Aaaaaand . . . here's the closest picture to a smile as I could get from him (and his dad)!
Today was fun. But tomorrow I open at work. So I shall be off now. Cheers.
Everybody, say hello to Matthew. He is my godson and is kinda hilarious:
(Matthew at... 10 months)
So Matthew turns one year old this Friday. What the heck do I get him for his birthday?
For what it's worth, he's growing up geeky and his father tells me he's really into Iron Man and Transformers right now. Otherwise, what else can I get someone who still can't walk unassisted? I mean, I'm looking forward to the day where I can be "cool Uncle James who buys all the Nerf stuff" . . . but that's still some years away.
Last night was fun. Saw everyone again, everyone else got to see everyone else again . . . we had an assload of food for about ten people, too. Lots of rice, lots of potatoes. Just kinda happened that way.
Myself, I made a pretty sweet fried rice with barbecued pork. I'm also really proud that it only took me about 20 minutes to make it all (including the first smaller batch without meat). Came out nicely, people who were in the kitchen with me at the time got to see I wasn't completely useless with a wok (bwahaha, ahh, the wok . . .), and it was tasty.
The turkey itself was amazing. Kudos to Dr. Haraguchi downstairs for roasting a hell of a bird. Super moist with juices dripping out of everywhere as I carved it . . . he says it was his first time roasting a turkey; I say he shall have to do this more often.
And yes, you read that pronoun correctly: this was the first year I had ever carved a turkey. No pressure or anything, hey? Well, it worked out well enough. Took me about 15 minutes (including a couple where I had to stop to take a phone call), but it worked out well enough. As for why I know the timing, it was because one friend filmed the whole thing as it happened - if I can get that YouTubed, I'll share it. But yes. Seems I've a new skill to start conditioning. Fun.
That Europe-travelling friend also got me a Venetian mask. It's pretty sweet. Though, it's a shame - apparently my head is a lot bigger than most Venetians, I guess. Still, sweet assed mask, and I'm quite happy to have it.
Also, Castle was fun tonight. Time travel and whatnot.
I'm gonna call this one as a fun night. Yeah, this was a good Thanksgiving . . . and now, time to prepare for a week of morning shifts!
