Gold medal for women's hockey!!! Whoooo!!!
Hell of a game, ends with a packed audience going ballistic, and a squad of young athletes basking in the glow of winning the gold on home soil.
So naturally the next morning what we all really get in the news is how they went back out onto the ice after everyone left so they could have a little party with drinks and cigars, and how upset the IOC is about it.
Must be a slow news day if this is the biggest news of the day.
Myself, it looks like they just survived a war. I don't think I'll be criticizing today.
Picked up Heavy Rain today, just finished installing it. Now, Heavy Rain is a PS3 game that's essentially a murder mystery where the story changes based on every little decision you make, may it be to climb up the muddy hill to check for clues or whether you choose to hug your one son first instead of the other when you come home from work.
Or something like that. Anyway, the murderer is a serial killer known as the "Origami Killer" who leaves origami thingies at his murders. Box art (that doesn't indulge in North America wet tanktoppery) as follows:
And lo and behold, what do they leave you inside the box to play with (including instructions on the screen while the game installs)?
I think I love that little touch. If I'm lucky (and if the reviews so far are true), this should be a pretty special little game . . .
Olympic News:
Gold and silver in women's 2-person bobsled! Booyah!
AND bronze in women's 5000m speed skating!
AND we beat Russia in men's hockey! Told ya we're not done yet.
EDIT:
. . . . . oh goddamnit . . .
Alright, so I've been playing for a couple hours. Seems this Origami Killer only kills boys about 9-13 years old after abducting them 3-5 days earlier.
Well . . . my son disappeared in the park. I went to the police station to make the report.
They asked me about what time it happened . . .
. . . and the game gave me options on what time I thought it happened.
Then I needed to give a description of what my son was wearing, what colour pants and jacket.
. . . . . I really, really hope Shaun was wearing a brown coat and beige pants . . .
I am the worst father ever . . .
That said, Heavy Rain is a very, very unique game. I'm excited. Even though my son is probably going to end up dead. And it'll be all my fault and I will feel extremely guilty. Crikes, when the hell did games get so good at this stuff?!
So after the clusterlove that was Sunday where we crashed during ski cross, lost in men's hockey and lost in women's curling . . . we've made a good comeback.
Won in men's curling against the US (gg, guys!).
Won in women's curling against Sweden (so even with the loss to China we're still in top spot right now).
Won in women's hockey against Finland (stuck around extra long at work to watch that).
Won the gold in ice dance with the youngest competitors in Olympic history (though to be fair the sport isn't especially old).
Yeah, I think we can come around . . . also, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir are crazy cute and . . . I dunno, sincere? They were fun to watch and listen to after their performance.
Good game, Canada. Good game. Now let's quickly get past Germany and Russia so we can get back into men's hockey again . . .
Lost in men's hockey to the US.
Lost in women's curling to China.
Not a good day. Granted, these are both mostly round robin tournaments so nothing's over especially considering the women are still technically tied for first with Sweden. For the men, it just means we have to win another game first. It's doable.
But wow. That was intense. I'm pretty sure living rooms all over the city - nee, the country - just all gasped together about two minutes ago. Dang.
But that's okay. It's not over yet . . . we'll come back HARRRRRRD!
My goodness, I've been watching a lot of curling these past few days.
Awesome.
