Dad Update . . .

Saw him today for a bit in the regular wards (I guess space freed up). DEFINITELY looking better now.

He's drinking a lot of fluids, walking around when he can, going to the bathroom on his own, ate a bit of jook . . . he was also together well enough that he asked not to be given the morphine later in the day. His eye also looks a lot better - still closed, black and oozy, but the swelling has really gone down compared to yesterday.

He's still sore in the face and neck, of course. Also, it turns out he does have a facial bone fracture along with the under-eye fracture. The facial fracture is gonna take probably 4-6 weeks to heal, and he's going to have a plastic surgeon take a look at him to try to drain some of the blood under there.

As for his heart, they're thinking it's probably the cough medication he took. Later in the night when he was first admitted, his heart rate went back up to normal. Stands to reason that the cough medication could have worn off by that point, and his heart is back to how it was before - still not great, but it's better.

My dad'll probably be in the hospital for at least a little while longer. He's kinda bored and wants to go home, and of course the hospital isn't going to keep him any longer than they have to. In any case, he's in decent spirits, is smiling a lot more, and just wants everything to be done with.

He should be alright.
