How many weeks has it been since just talking about what's been going on in my world? Too many. I think . . . this will be a very erratic post today. Let's see what's happened in the past few weeks . . .
First off, Chinese New Year performances a couple weeks back went about as well as they ever do. Not too many injuries, actually more people helping out than usual, and in the end of it all we're all still quite alive. Worst of it was that during one of the big performances we had a wet outdoor stage to run around on leaving us with wet feet the rest of the performance, and that I gave myself an annoying blood blister on my palm squishing it between some metal stands after the last performance. It was the last big mall show and we were just packing up our stuff back into the van. Very annoying. Like surviving the war only to die in a car crash a week later. Patton would be disappointed in me.
Next . . . you all remember the Pierogi Castle, yes? Well, after that blood-blister performance, we all got together and made more ridiculous food. That night we made both a smaller version of EpicMealTime's "Meatball Death Star" as well as our own concoction: the bacon-crusted burrito pie!
The pie turned out better than the meatball. That said, I can see myself making that pie in the future. Many, many times. It was beautiful. Also, godson is still growing up awesome and I got to hang out with him while we worked on the pie. That kid is wicked smart now - barely 15, 16 months old and is already reading a little! Kid's settin' the bar, I'll say that much . . .
What else, what else . . . umm . . . Valentine's Day was dece'. Had a little Valentine's pity party with a couple other folks, drinking, playing Resident Evil 5, and watching Castle. We make a good team.
I've shifted the furniture around in my apartment already in preparation for cosplay. It's time to switch to workshop-mode. I'll probably buy a sewing machine in the next day or two as well. As well, I bought my Flynn Rider fabrics and should be set to go to town on that very soon. Still, I need to hurry up and buy those boots . . .
I bought a toy Star Trek phaser. Y'know, the flippy-barrel one from the new movie. Just sayin'.
Gaming front, I need to open Dead Space and Dragon Age - and I mean the first ones, not the sequels that just came out or about to come out. At some point in the future I also need to grab Mass Effect 2 for PS3. Also, Xenogears is $10 on PSN, and I need to play that as well. Worst (or best) of all, I downloaded the demo of Shogun 2: Total War and found that it does indeed run on my computer. So I shall have to get Shogun 2 as well, because I seriously love me some Total War. I seriously have no time for all this. Fuck.
Why do I not have time? Because I'm always working evenings at work now. With the department hour cuts, we no longer have a midday shift. We have a morning shift and an evening shift. And, being that my supervisor and I are both entitled to full time hours and that my supervisor definitely isn't going to take the evening shifts, well . . . yeah. Work has become progressively less and less fun these past few months for a variety of reasons.
The part about how the head manager apparently "doesn't trust me anymore" probably higher on the pile than not. Evidently I chat with coworkers too much and appear to not be doing work too often. Like, I get that time theft is an issue in our company, but I was under the impression that the work was about making the sale and making customers happy, not about looking good for when people wearing ties walk by. Apparently I was wrong, and apparently I am a horrible worker who clearly doesn't get anything done. Ehh, I won't harp too much more on this. Really, it's just more incentive to get that exit strategy hammered out.
Hah. Imagine the future reinterpretations of the angry manager purposely making us unhappy and wanting us to leave because he feels we could to so much better for ourselves instead of working at Superstore . . . thaaaat would be giving a little too much credit, I think . . .
TV side of life! Castle is still awesome, Young Justice is awesome, and Glee isn't sucking nearly as bad as it was the first half of this season. Please, Glee, don't fuck it up again. Also curiously, I've started watching "The Clone Wars" online, and . . . after a few years of avoiding it because I didn't expect much from it . . . I can say I'm actually quite pleasantly surprised by it! It's actually a pretty decent little episodic show. As per Star Wars, the performances aren't necessarily stellar, but the storytelling and visuals are pretty sound. Who knew?
I need to fix my car's starter or something. This is starting to piss me off.
I might be mostly not sick anymore. I enjoy that.
Convention-wise . . . still super excited for Sakura-Con. The FFFT is fully stocked with teams, and I've been thinking ideas for it for the past month or two now. It's gonna be great - and for all of you coming to the con', expect that I may need you guys for a massive summon, so bring your A-games, a'ight? Also, I've decided I'm gonna make my Ezio-cosplaying friend a hidden blade. Going by the YouTube tutorials, in theory this actually shouldn't be too hard. And really, I can see myself using a pop rivet gun in the future, so I don't regret buying that . . .
I think that'll do for a long-assed post. Carry on, childrens.
And Beth.
And yes, do remind me to post about that thing with the learning methods. Still think it's worth mentioning.
