Weekly Town Hall Meetings
Gail, SomeGuy, myself, and the podcasters had a fun web-meeting with audio and chat. Wouldn't it be cool to have a live, weekly theOtaku town-hall meeting. One person from the team can be there and members can ask questions/bring up ideas they have/vent their frustrations/give compliments/etc.
Only the person from our team would have voice talking/moderation privileges to keep things from getting out of control.
What do you think??
PS: Is somegirl related to SomeGuy?

...I thought there was an homage element to that when I first noticed the similarity. I can't honestly answer you though.

Cool idea, I think, as long as it doesn't easily get out of control.

I'm just curious as to how we handle bringing members into the conferences - would it just be whomever can make it, or would we like, send out invitations? In any case, I think that'd be hilarious and all kinds of fun. Annnd, we can better make use of the "raise hand" button!
...
And yes, the clan founded by Samuel Guy in 1346 is a far-reaching one with clansmen reaching far from Stirling to eventually the new world.
The clan's history in North America is a sad one, though, for there was to be great schism once they began spreading out from their original settlements in the colonies.
Many of the colonial Guys had begun living in New York after the Treaty of Westminster, and continued to live there well throughout the American War of Independence. Already, the seeds of dissent were sown throughout the clan with the American Guys in New York and the Loyalist Guys in the Niagara region of British North America.
When the War of 1812 finally broke out between the United States and the British Colonies, the British Guys - already part of a long military tradition from back in Europe - were immediately at the Canadian vanguard, being located directly at the border between Upper Canada and New York.
During one particular battle during the early American invasions of Upper Canada, the American Guys found themselves in line-formation directly opposite their ancestral tartans. Nevertheless, by this point National loyalty had become a far stronger matter than familial; by battle's end, 15 members of the Guy clan were dead - 9 American, 6 British.
The war ended in 1814 after a costly stalemate, and the Treaty of Ghent ended hostilities between Great Britain and America. The Guy clan, however, would not be so quick to reconcile.
From that point on, the clan was divided in the New World. Being from Upper Canada, the British Guys came to be known as the "Upper-Case Guys", while the Americans were transversely known as "lower-case guys".
Though the inter-clan animosity has long since ended with time, the division has remained.
I, SomeGuy, am a 14th generation Guy. somegirl, I believe, is 6th or 7th generation from the American guys. So technically we're not related per se . . . . . but we do have the same tartan more or less.

after reading Someguy's comment, I forgot what I was going to say. But the townhall meeting type venue sounds interesting. Like most of the innovations with TheOtaku that youre planning.
