Chapter 2 Ken Do
Ken Do is a sport from Japan that two fighters use wooden swords to compete like samurai of old.
The Sotomes are at their dojo, practicing ken do with their sensei Azuma. She is 37 years old, wears a eye patch over her left eye, she has tanned skin, black fur only on her tail, arms, and her body like a swim suit. Her hair is shoulder length and rose red.
“Now I want you two to focus. Breath in the energy around you. Close your eyes, and see what's around you in a different light.”
They did what she instructed, and they found themselves seeing everything around them. They could hear the moths flying around the lights, they could smell the flowers in the pot at the window, and they could feel the cool night air.
“Now I will blind you and I want you to attack me, or defend yourself.” She blindfolded them, and started their test.
Tracy was trying her best to find her sensei, but she could not sense her anywhere. Tracy suddenly felt a sharp pain on her arm. She turned quickly in that direction to find her, but she was on where to be found. Tigra was having a hard time too. He caught smells of her but was to late to defend. He had been hit four times already.
“Close off your eyes and see the world around you! Or you will never be able to fight at your fullest!”
The sound seemed to come from every where. And they couldn't find her. Tracy just stopped, and put her sword strait in front of her with her arms at an angel, parted her legs and waited. She cleared her mind, and took a deep breath. She could now see where Tigra was. She looked for every movement, every sound, and every smell she could. She then felt the air around her change, and she swung her sword to the right and there was a sound of two wooden swords hitting together. She kept the change air in front of her at all time.
After she knew where to swing, she swung her sword down at an angel hitting someone and then to the side, knocking over her target.
“Stop!” Azuma called out. “You've found me, using your other eye. Tracy I’m very proud of you. Tigra.. Why didn't you come after me? You did sense me, didn't you?”
“Yes... I did. But I didn't know where you were 100 percent. So I thought it would be better to wait for you to get closer.” In truth he could only smell her sometimes. He know that he wasn't as good as Tracy, but he was trying.
Azuma know he wasn't telling her the truth. She know it had to be about the accident four months ago. She could only hope he'd get over it. Then and only then could he be his best.
Tigra was in the ring and he was ready to fight and his aponit was...
“Tigra? Tigra, what are you thinking about?” Asked Tracy.
“Oh nothing.” She didn't want to pry, so she didn't push.
...his aponit was a young girl, with gray fur and long red hair. He looked at his hands, they were red...
“Aaaaahhhh!” He yelled, as he shoot out of bed. He put his hand to his head, he could feel cold sweat on his face. He looked at the clock, and saw it was three in the morning.
“That same dream. Why can't it stop? Why, Why most I relive that?”
He set up and buried his face in his hands, trying to forget. He then layed down and went back to sleep.
The next day it was tryouts for the school kendo teams. Tracy was already to go and make the boys' team. Tigra was ready to go with her just to watch. She wore her kendo suit, a long blue pants that were big around the legs and a white kimono. She had practiced really hard for this. She was ready to show that a girl could be just as good as the boys.
When they get there, there were a lot of people. She however was the only girl there to try out, for the boys that is. She felt sad that no other girl would try out, but at the sometime she felt good that she would be the one to show everyone.
“Hi, I’m here to sign up.” She said happily.
“I think you most be mistaken. This is the boys' team. Boys only” He said.
“Oh Yeah! Says who!!” She yelled as loud as she could. “I'm just as good as them! Maybe even Better!” She coutuned.
“I'm sorry, but rules are rules...” Suddenly the boys sensei walked up, “What's going on there?” He asked.
“Sansei Yoshi, this girl wants to try out for the team.” He laughed.
Yoshi's body was completely covered in fur. He looked more like a fox then a cat. Only because of the color of his fur.
He looked Strait into her eyes. He could see the fire burning in them. He know a good fighter when he saw one.
“Let her sign up.” He announced.
“What!” But girls can’t play for the boys!” The boy said surprisedly.
“Do I have to repeat myself?” He asked.
“No, sensei.” He said respectfully.
“Besides, she has to prove to me why she can be on my team.” He looked at her and could see her eyes shining back at him.
“I will show you why sensei, I will.”
