Chapter 10
Lance lay on the floor curled up, eyes wide open and no emotion on her face. The door opened suddenly but she didn’t bother to close her eyes to stop from being temporarily blinded. “This is sick, I can’t take this anymore” said a blurred figure in the doorway. Lance’s eyes adjusted and the figure turned out to be Tsubaki. “Get up” she commanded. Lance stayed down on the floor as she had been all night. “I will never kiss and tell” Lance repeated over and over again as she had been all night. Tsubaki picked the delirious Lance off the ground bridal style. She sighed and walked out of the dungeon. “What has become of you?” Tsubaki said over the top of Lance’s rambling. People stared as Tsubaki carried Lance to the death room. She walked through and everyone was waiting. They ran over, except for Black*star, and stared in shock. “Are you happy Black*star?” yelled Tsubaki, making everyone jump. “He set the venom off” said Stein. Black*star stared at Stein waiting for an explanation. “The aggression you showed towards her was the exact same aggression Harris showed towards her. It was Harris’s password so to speak” Stein said. “What will happen to her?” asked Kid. “I don’t know” said Stein. Tsubaki put Lance on the ground and Lance continued her rambling. The group sat there thinking of ideas to help Lance when suddenly Lance got off the ground and walked over to Black*star. “Awaiting your orders master” she said blankly. Black*star stared at Lance in confusion. “We need to find a cure for the venom” Stein said. “Lance what is the cure?” asked Black*star. “You should know It’s Star clan blood” she said blankly. Everyone stared at Black*star. “You have to fight and kill them for the blood, a sacrifice” she finished. Black*star frowned and pulled Lance’s knife from her holster. “It’s all for you” he whispered. He cut his wrist and stroked Lance’s face before collapsing to the floor. “Black*star” Tsubaki screamed. She ran over and kneeled down next to him. “Make her drink it, I’ve protected her with my life” he said and then he blacked out. Tsubaki nodded and pulled a test tube from Lance’s jacket. She scooped up some blood and put the test tube to Lance’s lips. She slowly tipped the Test tube and the red liquid trickled down Lance’s throat. Lance Blacked out and collapsed on top of Black*star’s body. “Get them to the infirmary” yelled Stein. Kid picked up Lance and Tsubaki picked up Black*star. The group ran to the infirmary, Stein desperate to save Black*star.
Inside Black*star’s soul room
Lance looked around the small maze of winding arrow trees. The forest was dark and it was hard to see. Lance ran for what seemed like forever, eventually coming to a clearing in the middle of the forest. Black*star sat there in the clearing. “Star boy are you ok?” lance asked but there was no answer. She walked over to him so she could see his face. Tears rolled down his cheek and Lance swore she could hear his heart stop when he saw her. “Please leave me alone, I’m weak” he sobbed. Lance sat down on his lap and hugged him. “You’re not weak to me” she whispered in his ear. “I’m not?” he asked surprised. “No, what you did for me was very brave” she said snuggling up to him. “Do you love me?” he asked, fear of rejection in his eyes. “I don’t know for sure yet” replied Lance. “You always look so beautiful where ever you are” he thought out loud. “Arigato” she replied. Black*star blushed and said “I didn’t mean to say that out loud”. “I’m glad you did” she said. “Will you come back to the real world?” asked Lance. “What do you mean?” he replied. “Come back to reality and don’t die, I need you and so do your friends” she said. “Only if I can be with you” he said. “I guess we’ll see when we get back to reality” she said. “I think it’ll all go my way” he said. “Maybe, maybe not” she teased.
Black*star’s eyes flicked open. He saw all his friends looking at him with big smiles on their faces. He looked to his left to see Lance lying on her back lifeless. “Is she ok?” asked Black*star, his voice hoarse. “We don’t know she hasn’t woken up yet” said Soul. Black*star noticed the smirk on Lance’s face. “I’ve got an idea” he said getting out of bed. He was still in a lot of pain but he ignored it. He leaned over Lance who was still smirking. “Wakey-Wakey, princess” he said with a loving smile. She didn’t respond. He leaned in closer to see if she was breathing. She opened her eyes and pulled him in for a kiss. He was surprised at first but kissed back. “She’s awake” everyone else said with a sigh. Black*star pulled away to see Lance smirking. “Will you be mine?” he asked. “Will you let me kiss you some more if I say yes?” asked Lance. Black*star nodded. “Then I’ll say yes” she said and pulled him in for another kiss.
