The Naitch

When you hear the name "Ric Flair", you probably want to shout "WOOOOO!" really loud. And who could blame you? The Nature Boy is a charismatic and controversial figure in the pseudo-sport of professional wrestling, and one of its living legends. He can cut one Hell of a promo, to boot.

Presented for theO's benefit, here are a few classic promos by "The Nature Boy" himself, Ric Flair.

In this one, he tells us what kind of belt we could own if we sold our house to buy a belt, and the way to best reach him. Apparently you have to piss off both Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard before he even gives you the time of day. Also, he calls Michael Hayes a spandex cowboy, the fucking hippie bastard and his goddamn Reeboks.

This promo was supposed to be about Flair's Starrcade '87 match with Ron Garvin (seriously, Ron fucking Garvin), but he seems to devolve mid-promo, going progressively more and more insane as he speaks.

This is another promo for Starrcade '87. To his credit, Flair starts off quite well. At the end, his shirt is ripped open, and he has a crazy look in his eyes. Somebody really needs to switch him to decaf. At least he remembered to mention fucking Garvin in this one. Notice the pat "WOO!" delivered at the end. Talk about anticlimactic!

The final piece comes from Wrestle War '89, before a match against Ricky Steamboat. Here, Slick Ric drops his famous quote, "To be the man, you gotta beat the man!" Listen to it, and tell me you don't want to go crazy on some fool and yell that in his face!

So, what can we learn from Ric Flair? Well, to be a real success in life, you must go completely insane in front of a camera, and rant and rave like a madman about yourself and your hated enemies/ running crew. Then, and only then can you be awesome.
