Today, Variety Entertainment News Source has reported that Legendary Pictures has received from Japanese film studio Toho Co., Ltd. a license to do a U.S. "Godzilla" movie, so this will be the second time a U.S. "Godzilla" movie gets made without serving as a U.S. re-editing of any Japanese-made "Gosdzilla" film (the first time being Tristar Pictures did "Godzilla" (1998)). Furthermore, Legendary Pictures announced it will produce the upcoming film itself with Warner Bros. and that instead of following up on 1998's "Godzilla", the makers of this movie will focus more on capturing the spirit of 1954's "Gojira" (called "Godzilla" for its unamericanized English dub). Although full release date isn't yet confirmed, Legendary pictures hopes to release this movie adaptaion sometime in 2012.
