Today, Deadline has announced that Alexandre Aja, director of "Piranha 3D", has been granted the commision to do a live-action film based on the 1978 Sci-Fi Adventure Manga classic "Cobra" (not be confused with the Sylvester Stallone-starred action movie with the same title), which was serialized in "Shonen Jump". However, the director mentioned that first knew of the classic when he watched "Space Adventure Cobra" (the 1982 T.V. series based on the Manga itself) during his childhood in France.
While no release date is decided, Aja mentioned that he wants to do his movie take with the 3D theater experience, and while he'll write the script for it with Gregory Levasseur, the two will produce the movie with Marc Sessego and Alexandra Milchan.
