News: Disney's First Manga-Based Movie

Yesterday, Deadline announced that Walt Disney Pictures is getting ready to work on a movie called "Tux", which is planned to be an adaptation of the Japanese Comic book series "Tuxedo Gin". Robert Ben Garant, the co-writer of "Night At The Museum", will co-executie produce and write this movie with its team of producers to include the duo of Paul Young and Peter Principato, Viz Media representative Jason Hoffs, and Shogakukan representative Ichiro Takase. However, neither a release date nor movie format (whether live-action film or animated film) has yet been confirmed.

About "Tuxedo Gin": Written and illustrated by Tokihiko Matsuura, "Tuxedo Gin" tells the story of a boxer who, after a fatal accident, learns that the key to returning to his human body is to first live a lifespan in an animal body, and he chooses the body of a penguin, which happens to be his love interest's favorite animal. The series itself was published by Shogakukan for serialization in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (which serialized "Inu Yasha") with its English language version done by Viz Media.
