In the Montreal island (where I live) these days, finding anime-related T-shirt items on store shelves can be a tough task (unless perhaps the items are based on Hello Kitty and the U.S./Japan co-production animated series Transformers Generation One), even in the China Town part of Montreal. Usually the only times Montrealers can find shirts relating relating to anime other than Hello Kitty and Transformers Generation One is if they are to attend the Otakuthon and/or Montreal Comiccon. I remember back in July, DVD-and-music store HMV was hosting what at the time was said to be a limited-time sale of merchandises relating to the classic Mazinger anime T.V. series trilogy (consisting of 1972's Mazinger Z, 1974's Great Mazinger, and 1975's UFO Robot Grendizer), and the items available were mugs, t-shirts (all adult-sized, and in 4 designs, under the line name "Go Nagai Super Robots"), and the UFO Robot Grendizer French-dub DVD boxset with a discount price (note that the anime's French dub is called "Goldorak - Le Robot de L'Espace"). After July, I did not think I would find the any of Mazinger T-shirt items on store shelves until this week, and the fact such items are still available for sale is a good thing, especially when more of the anime classics could use the public recognition (too bad Montreal-based shop Sci-Fi Anime doesn't sell anime t-shirts anymore). Anyway, I bought the shirt showing Grendizer and the TFO (the other three in the line were one showing Mazinger Z, one showing Great Mazinger, and one showing Grendizer by itself), and I look forward to seeing which anime may be next to have shirt items get sold in more-mainstreams shops (like HMV and Wal Mart), even during when I tend to not only continue searching for merchandises relating to certain anime classics (examples: Space Battleship Yamato and Space Pirate Captain Harlock), but also do my part in spreading the awareness of the anime oldies themselves.
