Yesterday, ANN had announced that this year, the 1972 Go Nagai-authored Anime T.V. series classic "Mazinger Z" will be having a remake T.V. series launched later on this year, although the full premier date isn't yet confirmed. It's called in Japanese "Shin Mazinger Shōgeki! Z-Hen" (literal English title isn't yet known), and keep in mind that this is the 2nd continuity reboot for the classic "Mazinger" Anime T.V. series as the first continuity reboot for the same classics is the 2001 OVA miniseries "Mazinkaiser".

In terms of the staff, Yasuhiro Imagawa (director of "Giant Robo: The Animation - The Day the Earth Stood Still" and chief director of "Mobile Fighter G Gundam") will direct and write this upcoming series, while Shinji Takeuchi (character designer of "Gintama") while work on the show's character designs and Tsuyoshi Nonaka (the mechanical designer of "D.I.C.E.") will design the show's take on the protagonal super robot Mazinger Z as well as design all the evil mechanical monsters that'll appear in this new Anime.
